So that rules them out of going for Mbappe.

ZZ is one of his idols, so would have carried a massive pull for him, but with ZZ leaving, they will be looking way less attractive a prospect.

Real Madrid is enough of a pull as is irrespective of their somewhat lack of success at present.

I donā€™t think this changes much if anything over the prospect of Mbappe joining Real.

Itā€™s what happens at Real, but they remain one of the top destinations for these players.

Yeah. If anything it increases the chance of Real saying ā€œfuck itā€ and doing what is necessary to land him because if they go for someone like Conte or Allegri they will have to promise him significant funds to freshen up this side. Neither of those guys is coming in with a view to simply doing a better job with the squad he inherited. It simply isnā€™t how either of them work.

I might have misheard, but didnā€™t he say that Zidane being the manager at Real Madrid was a big pull to work with him?

I could be wrong, but I was always under the impression that Zidane was his idol growing up, so that was the pull for him to go to Madrid

Good insight into everything about Barcaā€™s current situation.

Oh, waaa! What a primadonna.

I think he has a point. Real got rid of Del Bosque when he won the league and only got to the semiā€™s of the Champions league if I remember correctly. That team needs fresh blood.

AgĆ¼ero in the post-signing interview when asked about Koeman:

I have not spoken to Koeman, his future is not my concern

Have not spoken to the manager? Can anyone imagine that we sign a senior player without he has spoken to Klopp ā€¦

Bye-bye Koeman.

Beautiful club, great culture. :joy:

Thatā€™s the norm for Barca and Real Madrid, which is why they churn through so many managers.

The club decide who to buy, and the coaches need to make them fit in - if they donā€™t they get sacked.

With Ancelotti back at Real I wonder if that is an opening for Bale to stay there for his final year?

Just what I said recently, Real have changed so many coaches in my following that theyā€™ll actually go back for a few for at least a second time.

Rinse and repeat.

Was just thinkingā€¦

If Carlo wins La Liga at some point, he will complete league titles in 5 major European leagues (won 1x title in other 4 countries so far).

Did someone else manage that, if anyone?

TL;DR: No, not all in top leagues.

Definitely not that group of titles. Carlo was already the first to win in 4 of what are now thought of as the big 5, and no one else has matched that specific milestone yet. But I donā€™t know I can give him more credit for winning the league with Bayern or PSG than youā€™d give Jose for winning on Portugal with Porto.
