I don’t know if they had that much power. He was also close to joining Juventus. I think he was really important for Atletico’s title, but he’s not the only factor. I wouldn’t blame Barca that much. But on the other hand, now they’re in for Aguero (and Depay and who knows if they can find a buyer for Griezmann or especially Coutinho). So we can question Barca’s decisions overall, but in Suarez’s case, yeah… it’s not something you want, but I don’t think the league was necessarily decided there.
I would say he was a massive factor in AM winning the league. I would go as far as saying Barca would have won it if they’d kept Suárez.
He actually made them watchable at times which is no mean feat.
He played a serious and decisive hand in Atletico winning the league ergo, it was. It’s okay to call a spade a spade sometimes without over analyising it.
New contract until 2022 signed, will be 36 then.
One of the best central midfielders in my following.
Agree with this. It looked as though ZZ was trying to phase him out (obviously because of age not quality) earlier in the season and RM’s results suffered for it. Once he was back in the team they improved a lot.
Plus he seems a very humble guy.
Oh wow. I remember we were linked with him during late-Rafa/early-FSG period. Rather slow for a winger, even at that time.
When you’re technically good and intelligent, you don’t have to be that fast.
No he wasn’t.
My favourite ever non-Liverpool player; really wish we had signed him at his peak but, having said that, he never fully applied himself. If he had the same dedication as Messi and Ronaldo, he would have been right up there.
Glad Mallorca are coming up.
Fond memories holidaying there as a kid and the road that goes right past their stadium.
They used to be a fairly decent mid table team.
I’m sure there is a strong English influence running then now… did I dream this or is some ex footballer like Graeme Le Saux involved?
Not sure, but that’s the club Steve Nash (Canadian NBA legend and surprisingly good football analyst) bought into as part of an American consortium.
Beckham wasn’t that quick, but still had the skills and ability to beat most defenders with technique and ball control, and use of other players to create space for him.
Whilst speed is a nice advantage, it is not the be all/end all
Espanyol and Mallorca got promoted to La Liga.
Insurance scam?
That’s how desperate they are to beat us to Mbappé.
I was going to say just that.
It must’ve been him sneaking a crafty ciggie that started the fire.
Conte or Allegri to Real then?
