Always love it when an unfancied team upends the Big Ones

The great Real just got knocked out of the Copa del Rey by a third tier side, Alcoyano, having a player more on the pitch.

Zidane will again try to save his job with a CL title.

I suppose Spain is the only thing good about football currently.

El-Nesyri in some proper goalscoring form for Sevilla lately. Scored his 16th goal in 27 games. I think West Ham had a few bids rejected for him in last days.

If Atletico doesn’t win the league this season, I don’t know what to think of Simone and his pathetic lot.

However,

It is the second consecutive season Atletico have been eliminated from the cup by a third-tier team, after losing to Cultural Leonesa last year.

Copa Del Ray is open for Barca though hopefully they bugger up and let a smaller team have it

Well, there’s certainly a bunch of teams who can go all the way. Sevilla (3rd), Villarreal (5th), Sociedad (6th), Granada (7th) are not much worse-off than Barcelona (4th).

Wouldn’t it be better to save money?

I think Barcelona are a bit pissed that their usual shite house press has beaten them to the announcement.

Athletico go 10 points clear with Suarez giving the ultimate middle finger to Barcelona

Still going strong, Luis. Turned 34 lately.

What an animal of a player. :shark:

Suarez is (almost) singlehandedly carrying Atletico to title.

Suarez: 16 goals :muscle:
Felix: 9 goals
Llorente: 7 goals

Missed the chance to go 10 points clear of Barcelona last night with a 2-2 home draw.

History repeats itself.

In 2013 Barca sold David Villa for a very small fee to AtlĂ©tico because the player was ‘too old’ and his wages were too high. AtlĂ©tico won the league that season.

Now very similar with Suarez.

I seem to remember the talk on here was that Suarez was finished. Goes to show that there are other ways of skinning the cat by having older quality players. The resale income may not be possible but they do have quality to offer still and if they carry a team to success then that is surely a benefit.

I don’t think people thought he was finished because of his age but because of that recurring knee injury. I thought he would end up in USA or somewhere like that because of that particular issue, he almost never got injured and when he did, Barcelona acted like they didn’t want to give him time to recover and for his knee to fully heal. I’m very, very surprised that it didn’t let up (or maybe the issue was exaggerated in the press?). He seems fully fit and when he’s fully fit, he’s simply outstanding.

Atletico make some very questionable purchases though.

Álvaro Morata for 36 million :flushed:
Moussa Dembélé
Diego Costa for 50 million

I think to attack Barca for this is very easy. He was close to joining Juventus. Who knows if Suarez staying would’ve made any difference in terms of winning the title. Barca had and still have more on their books than they can get rid of and start something new. I see no big deal to be honest. Glad that Suarez is still going strong. But sometimes you have to make decisions and things play out in a certain way.

That’s the level he was at times here at Liverpool, as for Barca they have other issues, to me the club will be only able to go forward when they realise their great is now stinking out the place.
