Leicester, the Foxes thread

You can see he’s putting his stamp on the defence now they are conceding buckets loads of goals.

Bodgers thinking he is going to Old Toilet in the summer so he has lost interest in LCFC now

How was Rodgers interview after the game?

did he take any credit for Gerrards management skills?

Foxes boss Rodgers after their defeat to Aston Villa: “Our Achilles heel which has killed us is our defending of the set-piece.”

Nothing new since the Liverpool days then…

Going to be an interesting match next time we play then given our ability at set pieces, not just open play.

I do wonder how strong a lineup Klopp will field in the Carabao fixture, given we are so well-positioned in the League and UCL. If he plays the kids, Leicester might squeak through.

Leicester owners are decent and smart folks. They must know that if they linger on with Rodgers the future is a steady decline, ruining the years of good work.

Partly depends on Leicester’s attitude as well. Do they view this as a trophy worth pursuing or something to just get through while focusing on righting their league campaign? They’re not a deep squad with a couple of injuries and so if they divide to rest a few players it could end up with a pretty weak side.

Don’t think that’s going to happen. I think the CL and League Cup games this month and the FA Cup game in January are perfect opportunities for rotation. We have so many senior players fighting for squad spots that without a catastrophic injury crisis we will be able to field a strong squad.

I am sure the team that starts vs Leicester in the cup will be stronger than the one that starts tonight.

Leicester on the other hand have league games against Spurs and Everton before and City and us again after the League Cup.

They don’t have a huge squad but have to make changes.

Another team that had players break curfew, why do I feel they are the most sensible when they go shopping and eating out.

Reading through a Foxes talk forum for a laugh (it’s a bloody hot and lazy day here and there is fuck all happening on TAN right now). Some seem to want to give Rodgers the benefit of the doubt but a fair few of the natives are getting restless as well:

‘’ We have to be careful. We’ve got a decent squad but our morale and our form looks like relegation stuff

Rodgers doesn’t seem to have a clue how to defend’’ (Wow, who knew)

‘‘He hasn’t improved a single player since he’s been here imo. So many have declined’’ (don’t tell the pundits that…)

“such a weak mentality under him.” (oh dear)

"
This has been going on all season he has no clue on who to play and where to play them. This is all the managers fault for continuing changing formation" (Sounds familiar…)

“We need someone to oversee Tielemens, Ricardo and co leaving in the summer and I think generally he would be the right guy to do this” (He was basking in the glory for signing those players even though he didn’t)

“The guy who watched us beat Southampton 9-0 then signed half their back line?” (reply to the above post )

“This. The tactics just after HT yesterday were totally ridiculous. All we needed was a draw but, presumably at Rodgers’ request, we had full backs bombing forward, leaving Napoli huge spaces in behind to attack and exploit” (now where have I heard that before)

“The biggest issue and where I have lost all confidence is how he keeps addressing the media. He papers over the cracks, throws out numerous excuses and doesn’t ever hold his hands up despite us continuously making the same mistake after mistake, playing the same brand of tedious slow football and showing a clear lack of desire to help turn it around. Every week it’s newspaper quote after newspaper quote” (I feel your pain buddy)

“His comments are just weird. What’s this youthful bollocks? Back line has an average age of 30 last night. There were 4 internationals in it, some of whom have won silverware before.” (Whoops, looks like someone has figured it out, Brendan)

“But he NEEDS to sort it out. To show improvement. Coaching needs to change, attitude needs to change, etc etc.” (What a noob, doesn’t he know it’s an education that the players are getting?)

Really seems like some cracks are starting to show in the facade.

I really hope he gets the Man Utd job!

That defense. Horrendous. Just two clean sheets in all comps this season, one of those against Millwall. He’ll need to fix that before getting a better job, for sure.

Meanwhile, Newcastle licking their woeful chops for Sunday. Should be a high scoring affair.

Obviously his hiatus in Scotland did no more than take his inept coaching style out of the limelight for a while…
Mid table at best this season… relegation scrap next if he is still there

He seems to have a limited shelf life at a club. He’s a pragmatist and good at looking at what he’s got when he walks in and making the best of it. It’s like he’s finishing off someone else’s work and learning from the previous manager’s mistakes. When it comes to building something lasting himself he’s found wanting and moves on. I can see him having a long career as a manager and having many clubs but I don’t think he’ll ever get another top job.

“If my name was Benedetto Ruggero, I could have managed Real Madrid”.
