Yeah, Deshi means countrymen. While we generally use it for people from same district/region. I guess for expatriates, it means fellow Bangladeshis.

It’s the desh videsh concept…

Local - foreign…

@Bekloppt … get your wife some hilsa … While it’s thorny… And I don’t want to remove the t in thorny but that’s what every bong becomes … Mostly… Again generalizing

I doubt he will get decent Hilsha in Germany. Do you have good ones there?

We get the godavari river equivalent of hilsa. More expensive but personally I don’t really care for the fish anyway.

She is a rare Bong who hates fish curry. Childhood traumas etc. Too many fishbones and insistent aunties I guess.

I had a customer from Gujarat, specifically Surat. He turned up for our meetings with the most amount of gold I ever seen on a person :joy:. He showed me his house in Surat and its no exaggeration, he had solid gold tables, chairs, chandeliers…

Should have reported him to the tax authorities. But Surat is a hub for diamonds and jewellery.

GHMC FOOD STREET

This is something which has come up off late. I am hearing great things about here. Basically a drive in but one which is being operated by the GHMC.

Interesting… Let me try when I am on work trip at Chennai and then to Bangalore for next 2 months. Thanks for sharing :+1:

I won’t be going there during the rains for sure… But the menu seems promising.

For anyone with an FT subscription, there’s a very interesting interview with Modi in today’s paper.

I thought our Indian friends might be interested in this article:

People are aware. There’s no great grassroot enthusiasm for Modi. I never brought into his hype but quite a lot of people arent supporting him as much as they did last time around.

He’ll still get into power though.

Moitra and TMC are a different breed of scums though.

One more day till the polling concludes.
