LFC Sporting Director thread

He hasn’t won anything at Bournemouth.

As I said you can’t put a gun to their head at the moment it’s mixed as no doubt him and Edwards scouted the right manager but there isn’t much in the way of transfers to judge him on.

We should all chill out about Hughes. He did very well at Bournemouth. To the degree he was involved in hiring Slot, fantastic!

Now give him some time, as we are fair-minded, and we will be able to see his work at Liverpool.

Working well with the head coach and shaping the team for the future will be the litmus test. Let’s see what happens…

Richard Hughes on his way back from signing Wirtz after negotiating for 3 weeks only to pay the exact amount that Leverkusen wanted…

I’ve seen several values mentioned throughout. The fact any of these people know every dot on the deal is a fallacy.

They were all reporting BL had rejected that second deal and it appears they didn’t now. Only taken them a week.

People also too quick to point fingers at our SD’s based on social media - conjecture level 1000.

I’m pretty much removed from it all now. I’ve made my points on our spending. It’s what happens on the pitch. We spent very little last year and had the doomsayers banging on about how we would struggle. We won it at a canter.

Thats a very simple way of thinking about it. Its more than just value its length of payments payment amounts add ons which make up negotiating.

Haha, you said fallacy, which sounds like phallic, which is a dick, and is short for Richard.

I had a proper little tantrum after the Zubimendi deal fell apart but I honestly think it was the best thing that could have happened.
There’s an argument that if he’d come in and benched Grav that we wouldn’t have had such a strong start and I think the early momentum was vital for the title.

Sorry Rich, lad. :zipper_mouth_face:

I was disappointed when we didn’t do any more deals but yeah it worked out. Deffo a star for Arne on that.

Regardless of what he does from now on in.

His appointment of Slot is a massive masterstroke.

Up till March people wanted him flogged for stealing a wage.

It’s a fine line between a statue and a flogging for the modern football fan!

Not true, everyone loved “Release Clause” Hughes.

Just delighted that we didn’t waste too much time with Ward.

Getting Edwards back in, together with appointing Hughes, was the best thing that could have happened.

Still find it super weird Ward left after barely a year. Did think he did a bad job that overall, but also don’t think we’ve missed him in the end since he’s been gone.

I suspect there’s a spicy story or 2 from the background that most of us will never know on that one.

Somehow that sounded sexual

Isn’t he back with the club now anyway?
