I love the perks in this job description, priority to attend certain matches!![]()
I would hope “certain matches” means every match Liverpool are involved in.
Suppose if you are the travelling chef you are only needed for away games.
What about serving up dodgy lasagne to away teams when they come to Anfield?
I just saw this.
. Slot is strengthening his backroom staff. Slot isn’t going anywhere…yet.
So is Reijnen the new assistant manager, or just one of the coaching staff?
I assume if this is true it would be a replacement for Gio
I guess Hulshoff remains in that role, he’s second in hierarchy.
I don’t get why the club would be bringing in Slot’s wanted backroom staff when he has only got 12 months left on his contract and no indication anywhere of a new deal being discussed, let alone offered which hints to me that the club don’t see him staying beyond the original contract length.
Because they’re pretty thick is the only explanation that makes sense
The club are probably open to extending his contract if he performs well this upsoming season. Regardless of that, having got rid of Briggs there is a vacancy there in the coaching team so it would make sense for Reijnen to fill it.
I think arrogance is a better word. The first Sporting Director ever to flip a switch in the summer and reset and have no recollection of this season whatsoever.
If they give the guy the tools he has requested, then no more excuses than to fire his arse when/if we linger mid-table all season
Yeah it’s not like we haven’t seen this before.
Sacking of Briggs didn’t make a lot of sense eithier just a scapegoat really*. At this point it’s a bit odd Rodgers hasn’t sued for copyright.
*Move the guy from a job he was doing ok in to something he wasn’t qualified then sack him and suggest you’ll do it as a group before anyone questions it.
Make no sense, even if it did in some tiny mind upstairs ,consider season end if it is as bad as this,we will be severely pissed off and said suit wanders off into the sunset, with a suitcase full of dosh.
This is the bigger question for me around this scenario. I have no issue with him bringing in someone he trusts and appears to function well in the role. But how that vacancy came about does beg the question why we couldn’t just reshuffle the coaching responsibilities amongst the group and have Briggs work on something else that he had been more successful at the year before?
Yup, fundamentally there is far more than just set pieces wrong with this side and so it stands to reason he should be sacking half his team.
Don’t see anything weird.
12 months is a lot of time football wise, it’s a whole season (if Slot is still here by the end of next season).
If the initial plan was to bring the majority of Slot’s staff at Feyenoord (minus Marino Pusic, who I think decided he wanted to be the head coach somewhere), then if they can eventually land the guy who the club wanted but couldn’t because of smaller issues, you do it.
Especially since it’s the set-pieces aspect.
Naturally you try and do everything where you can improve a few %.
What happens with Slot and/or his staff members going forward, nobody can predict.
At least Rodgers teams were fun.
At one point yeah.
