Frimpong also deserves a mention—the two Jeremys really rocked it in the first half, as far as I’m concerned.
Now you know Araujo will give a pen, get red carded and we’ll lose 4-2
Immaculate half by Jacquet. First action since Feb and he does that. Very intelligent player. Frimpong and Isak doing well but the team is just a little out of sync on transitions still. We had chances to break fast but there was no support and running off the ball.
I’m going to enjoy the lashings of humble pie being scoffed by Gakpo doubters this season under Iraola.
Jacquet plays in that place.
Nah you can’t mention him he can’t play fullback ![]()
His best bit was that covering tackle, loved him being in position to make it.
HT 2-0:
What a nice first half! Open end to end stuff, against very good, well-organised opposition. These lads know how to play football.
MoM so far Frimpong for me. Hasn’t put a foot wrong, made a superb assist for Gakpo and saved us from a certain goal for Como.
Another one standing out: Jacquet of course. You wouldn’t think that these are his 45 first pre-season minutes with us, and that he just has arrived. He looked composed, strong, good on the ball. Took his chance well.
Finally, Gakpo deserves praise for his performance. Certainly our best forward player today so far.
Let’s see how it goes. I expect us to experience physical difficulties towards the end, but hopefully the lads can still offer us at least twenty minutes in the second half, with the same intensity and the same attacking verve. That would be progress compared with last week.
Also looking forward to see Araujo make his first appearance today. ![]()
That’s exactly what I’m talking about. Finding the best time and place to trigger the press
A few things I observed in the match
- Gakpo is flying. His form since the start of the world cup is kinda mad.
- Wirtz is such a disappointment so far due to his poor physical presence and some inability to make the right decisions.
- Rio looks subdued at the right. Might end up needing reinforcements there.
- Frimpong has sharpen up defensively.
- Jacquet is really a huge upgrade on Konate. He is like a VVD-lite.
- The midfield pivot balance is really poor. The inability to win the ball and pass it forward effectively is causing overruns on us all the time. It looked to me that our defenders passes the ball and keep the ball better than our midfield duo. Can Macca or Trey win the ball better than the two we have now on the pitch. I don’t think so. We might need to look at that position in this window and probably the winter one.
Another that had a far better half was Grav, pressed very well, yes a couple of free kicks, but looks far more natural doing that than sat in no mans land doing nothing to assist the press, which was what Slot did to him.
I get the feeling he may not have a pwerful enough shot in his locker to hit from that far out?
Also awareness where the get out ball is and that inside ball to a runner can kill any press, but overall the press was good as we we had a lot of turnovers.
No pressure Ron ![]()
This seems very basic, but I just want to see him kick the ball hard towards goal once in a while.
And I’m saying that as someone who loves watching him play, he’s my kind of player. Just want a little more ‘boom’ from him now and then.
4 and 6, Frimmy was excellent and our 2 pivots have won a lot of turnovers on the press!
Araujo coming on
It will be absolutely cinema if Araujo also scores.
Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye are BOTH OUT of PSG’s squad to face Lens today

I can live with him not being shit.
