Liverpool FC - Pre-season (Part 2)

There’s a few players who are yet to return for pre season. However, with only 3 weeks to the start of the season, I think the squad is not where it should be at this time. Short on depth and we’re carrying injuries into the season plus, players are just returning from serious injuries, who are not fully fit. If Alisson gets injured, which is very likely, we’re stuck with Marmadashvilli, who isn’t good enough.
We need to sign five quality players, in my opinion. A right back, centre back, defensive midfielder, a right winger and another striker. That’s just my opinion but I know it won’t happen.

You can sign multi-role players to reduce the number required. For example, signing at least one among Konsa/Tomori/Acheampong will simultaneously boost our RB and CB, or, signing Djed Spence will boost both wings. For RW, we can try Endrick or Nwaneri.

As for midfielder, I would still prefer Wharton, who is a CDM and at the same time the beast passer in the League.

You watch that game last night and thought we what we needed was a Milner? :open_mouth:

Why should we spend 70m on Wharton when we’ve got Nyoni, who can do all those things too and comes from our Academy?

If anyone sensibly avoided the second half performance last night I can tell you how grim it was by the fact I was disappointed when they didn’t stop half way through for a hydration break.

Did you start watching last season?

To build up midfield depth, upgrade on Jones who likely leaves and maintain our HG quota.

No mate, 1973.

ok fair enough. I do disagree though as so many good youngsters coming. In terms of an exciting team, it’s not even bottom 10 since 1973. If Iraola starts playing the youngsters, this can be a good season.

How many of our over-hyped exciting youngsters have gone on to cement a place in the team over the last 20 or 30 years? 2 or 3 at best.
And I wasn’t talking about an exciting team, just one that can compete.

Mmmmm 70m for midfield depth, there must be better ways I hope.

I like Nyoni but lets steady on a bit here.

Not Wharton specifically, as much as it´s known I rate him, but we have no idea yet if Nyoni can do a good job as a PL midfielder.

Not that I see that kind of passing range in Nyoni. I see him as a Fabinho or a bit nearer a Rodri if we are very lucky.

Well, more than depth. Wharton will also rebuild our ability to make passes from the deep which we lost after Trent left.

Oh, btw, we only have one non-HG transfer spot left right now.

Yeah the overreaction by some is ridiculous.

But its always the way - lose games in pre-season and some people go to panic stations.

Where have we strengthened with proven quality?

Couldn´t care less if we win or lose in pre-season.

Performances are more important than results to me but the main factor is just the player base we have. It´s actually worse than last year.

Snap I did the same I thought it would be a banker win but as I couldn’t sleep I was shocked when I looked at LFCtv.

No need to go that posh an ordinary tie would have been sufficient caveat that a bow tie would have done the trick.

Glad to see people aren’t letting half a friendly game go to their heads.

Especially as it was a mix of kids, lads just back and just a few minutes for a couple lads who might be on the pitch to start the season.
