We play him in pre season so other clubs in the right league see his quality and then are keen on the loan, simple.

And Andoni gets to work with and see him play first hand.

Please don’t think I’m saying you’re wrong but there’s definitely some different interpretations floating about.

This one is saying he’d need to play 80-90 percent of minutes in in one of the top leagues plus some European games too.

(I’ve copied out a few parts.)
β€œWorking with Iraola has been absolutely fine; we had a great conversation the week after the announcement, and the most important thing for him to know is that I’m always here for him.”

β€œWhatever he needs, whatever he wants to know, whatever he requires from me for the teamβ€”or anything elseβ€”I’m here for him. Hopefully, we’ll be successful this season; that’s what we want.”

He says: β€œI definitely asked for a longer break because I felt I needed itβ€”not just physically, but mentally, too.”

β€œIt was a very grueling year, from before the start of pre-season training last year right up to the day I was eliminated from the World Cup; that’s why I felt I needed a good break, and I had maybe three days more than Ryan (Gravenberch), Flo (Wirtz), and Alex (Isak).”

β€œFor me, it was crucial not to travel to America, because I didn’t want to deal with jet lag or have to come back from it afterwards.”

We are negotiating for Barcola and Mbaye, who will fill the RW position, and Araujo will add much needed cover to the CB and RB spots. In midfield, we appear to be well stocked numbers-wise, especially with Nyoni’s emergence and claim for a role. A lot of people are clamouring for a DM specialist, but recent history suggests that we don’t need one to be successful.

In other words, provided that we get another wide player or two, I don’t see glaring gaps in the squad, at least from a quantitative point of view.

Yeah, I feel like we have certain areas, like CB and RW where we have an obvious need due to lack of personnel, whereas for other positions where people want to see recruitment, like in central midfield, it’s a case of, we have personnel but it will take a bit of time to work out if we have what Iraola needs or, if not, address those needs internally (through young players like Nyoni) or externally through transfers - and that latter step is one that’s likely to take a further window or two to properly address.

For now it’s a case of bringing in people where we lack the numbers, and once that’s done we’ll start the process of assessing what we have and making adjustments as necessary down the line.

When I watched the match, i thought we were brilliant first half, we were pressing alot, moving forward alot more. Isak and Wirtz had good link up.

The second half I thought Rio was really energertic, fast and just missed scoring, but he was so eager the first 15 minutes. I liked the youngster, Ndukwe, he was brilliant. We need him this season not next season. I hope the club can find a loophole to bring him back as soon as possible.

I am glad Harvey got some minutes. I hope Andoni can find a place for him in the team.

I really like the tribute we gave to the late Kevin Keegan. It was fitting tribute.
It was a good match. Monaco were much better in the second half and gave a good game.

A thoroughly enjoyable game apart from the result. The Kop choir kept reminding us to sing, the atmosphere was great.

I am not worried. This is pre-season, the boys have just come back from a very long World Cup tournament. They need to be mentally rested as well. We got to have faith. Remember JΓΌrgen’s quote β€œyou have to go from doubters to believers”.

Up The Reds! :raised_fist:t4:

We lack an elite passer in the midfield, especially long-range passing, and we also lack quality full-backs.

I believe that without the fact that Kerkez used to play under Iraola, he should be replaced by Lewis Hall. Likewise, Frimpong should be replaced by Neco Williams or Djed Spence, or even TAA again if chances arise.

On top of that, quite a few of our players are non-performing to a worse extent than Ox/Keita/Lallana during Klopp years: Tsimikas (someone who could not be even AS Roma’s second choice has no place here), Chiesa, and Ramsay. At the same time, we can ditch all three of Endo, Bajcetic and McConnell and buy back Morton, who will likely be more useful than all these three combined at this stage.

Harvey Elliot was stood in the foreground of every one of those pictures before they were cropped, you might be able to see a tiny curly hair poking up if you look really hard just underneath where it says height

Well, we already knew that last season, but I’m glad Iraola addressed it so openly. It’s going to be extremely demanding for the lads to rebuild what’s been lost.

Analysing pre-season is always fraught with danger. Players are often at different stages of their preparations, new arrivals are trying to bed in and there is a rare opportunity for experimentation from the coaching staff.

Some trends, though, become impossible to ignore. And for good reason will Liverpool supporters have noted one particular observation of Andoni Iraola after Liverpool’s disappointing friendly reverse at home to Monaco on Sunday afternoon.

β€œI think we played really good first half, especially the first 30 minutes, but right now probably we don’t have much more in terms of the level required to play like this,” said the new Reds head coach.

Iraola’s comments highlighted a shortcoming that hampered Liverpool throughout a dismal final campaign under predecessor Arne Slot.

As the Reds struggled to replicate the form of their previous dominant title-winning season, the inability to put together a 90-minute performance was long bemoaned by an increasingly baffled Slot.

With Iraola very much in the Jurgen Klopp mould of how he believes the game should be played fitness and squad rotation plays a key part in realising those aims.

Unlocking the full physical potential of his squad is becoming a priority for Iraola and his coaching and conditioning staff.

Nice for a basketball team but ultimately game intelligence is what count - both in footie and basketball. I see two that have it, some unknowns and a couple that don’t have it.

Play them all against Arsenal. I want a 5-0 win from corners.
