Liverpool FC - Pre-season

Not sure I really understandstand the logic of plying 2 30 minute games on the same day

Maybe different squads in each? Get everyone a mini-match against unfamiliar opposition to get back into rhythm?

Can be the only reason I guess and for it to feel less of a training game.

The medical and fitness staff are at the pinnacle of athlete performance. There will be some very detailed science, logic and reasoning for them doing the short games. Itā€™ll all be part of their build up to being fully fit and ready for an intense 90 min game in a months time, but also for the rest of the season.

Build relationships with those clubs probably. I think we see them as sources of talent and destinations for loanees

Undoubtedly it will be two different squads entirely. West Ham just did a similar thing on Tuesday (although they played a full 90). They put two different squads out playing at the same time against some lower league clubs

John Terry and Ryan Giggs have got that covered :+1:

Are the two games on the same day in the same location and pitch? Seems a tad weird maybe itā€™s a coping mechanism due to the larger than usual squad out on pre season. Even Klopp has said this pre season is strange with the format of game

At this stage of pre-season they have build up the tolerance to work. Doing too much too soon as at best counter productive in that it forces them to do it at too low an intensity, or gets them injured. Theyā€™ll add 10-15 minutes a week to the amount they want them doing in one session.

Considering the gap between our last friendly game and first league game Iā€™d expect another friendly or two.

I just found a weather warning for that region. They are expecting heavy rain this weekend and a possibility of dangerous flood in that area. Fingers crossed it wonā€™t be a problem.
