Liverpool FC - Pre-season

Yeah, more or less that. Alisson, Trent, xx VVD, Robbo, Thiago, Hendo, yy, Salah, Mane, zz

xx - Gomez/ Matip/ Konate
yy - Fab/ Keita/ Ox
zz - Jota/ Bobby

The bold ones being my first choice.

Just want all these alternate options to be fit as well. If not atleast one of them at these positions! Crazy to think we couldn’t catch a break to get a game with these players together, let alone few games in a row.

Really hope we go all in on Elliot this season. He has looked class.

Thought Mike ‘Look At Me’ Dean had retired at the end of last season :0(

I think poor set pieces were more a side effect of the injuries we had. Pretty sure we had one of the best records both defensively and offensively on set pieces in 2019/20.

We had most set piece goals in 18/19 and 19/20

Going to offer more than Keita.

I have seen him in quite a few games. In some of them he has been really, really good in my opinion and certainly a couple of levels better than Elliot. But it is unfair to compare them I think and I would not do so myself (someone else did which I responded to). But since you challenged me, then yes, I think he is very significantly better than Elliot.

I was going say, problem might be the players going up, Matip is one of our best on heading corners but he has been so hit and miss in playing.

And you look at corner stats an average team scores at most about 5 or 6 a season considering you can have up to 10 a game it’s not a massive advantage.

Say of your scoring 80 goals and getting 8 from a corner that’s about average.

Going by last night’s lineup, tonight’s would be

Kelleher
Neco Konate Gomez* Tsimikas
Fabinho* Henderson*
Takumi Firmino* Curtis
OX

The * marked players are likely to be subbed.

Think Thiago starts for sure since Klopp mentioned it.

Hmm, that could mean Curtis dropping to the bench :frowning:

Broke my ankle playing and when it happened tried to play on, walked off the pitch and home after the game, so walking off means nothing jusy saying

I know, I know, I’m just trying to stay positive.

I hear you but Liverpool have world-class physios on hand. They wouldn’t have let him walk off if they thought he might exacerbate the injury. My money is on a sprain, but we’ll find out later hopefully. Fingers crossed!!

It’s almost like not having a healthy CB effected our set pieces last year…

VVD!

@GermanRed please edit the thread title.

Kelleher
N. Williams Kounate Gomez Tsimikas

Something like that maybe - flip a coin between Shaq and Ox.
