If we not careful, we will lose Karius on a free.
Will that be a great loss???
Fiscally perhaps. But to be honest, his trajectory doesnât give me hope that he can displace Alisson, and Kelleher has the advantage of youth on his side. This leaves a question over what role he can still play here.
If things had turned out different and Mignolet had left in 2018 rather than Karius, then perhaps he might have been able to firmly claim his place in the team. He could even have played Adrianâs vital role in a title-winning season. But now, it seems that heâs an odd man out.

How fit are all the CBs? They all seem to be there in the pics, which is nice.

Klopp looks strange without his glasses!
On the CBs question, by all the news stories, Virgil, Matip and Gomez are fully fit in terms of being able to partake in full training. Match sharpness wise, theyâve had the longest layoffs of the CBs so will be a touch rusty I suspect. Konate was fit last year, so should be good to go, as should, Ben Davies, Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams.
Iâm pretty relaxed about the opener against Norwich. Like if we see say Konate and Phillips, Iâm not worried. But would expect one of Virgil, Matip and Gomez to be in.
Adrian - if either of them play we are pretty much relying on not get any shots on our goal anyway. Adrian, at least, has the benefit of being a popular guy who seems permanently happy and not a bad energy around the squad.
Karius doesnât exude that, to me.
Incredible.
Posted in Konate thread, Naby looking bigger and more muscular.
Big Div not looking so big anymore. Really thin looking.
Seeing Big Virg back in training almost brings a tear to my eye.
edit⊠btw his glasses are back in this video
Great to see van Dijk twisting and turning, no holding back.
Iâm guessing, from past trends, there will be two separate teams against Innsbruck and Stuttgart; probably a stronger one against the later. Against Mainz and Hertha we will change the entire team at HT.
Against Innsbruck, Iâm guessing:
Bradley Nat Koumetio Tsimikas
Grujic
Milner Keita
Elliott Musialowski Origi
That was making me so nervous!!
When he was in the rondo and cutting back and forth my heart was stopping.
Gomez looked sharp.
Kostas got ran ragged in the rondo.
Joe and Virg are bezzies, theyâll be our first choice pairing.
Agreed with all of above. Great to see Joe and Virg moving well enough and turning. Donât want to see them be nervous which I think has happened to the Ox understandably. Origi looks similar aswell which is good, looked a tad slow last season. Nice to see the youngsters with the seniors aswell, wish we got to see longer of them in the rondos to see was the drop in quality a good bit or are they closer than thought to speed. Hope they take it easy, as in my opinion, freshness in the team is more important than improving on fitness etc after the shite season we had. Lads need this break
Time heals all wounds and I do feel badly for Karius. Watching him in training, heâs training hard but he also likely understand his time here is limited and I canât imagine what that feels like for him.
Clearly the club donât see a future path for him here with renewing Adrianâs deal.
Nat Phillips during a rondo.
Klopp confirms Matip the closest to ânormal trainingâ out of his three returning centre-backs. Van Dijk and Gomez being carefully managed (no double sessions yet).
Alexander-Arnold âfive or six daysâ away from normal team training.
Can see Joel and Konate start our season off instead of Joey and Virg
Unfortunately for him he is also the one to be the closest to be injured again.
Takumi and Tsimikas are so lightly-built. They look like the youth player.
Do we need to panic?
There was speculation before the Euroâs that the Dutch wanted to take Virgil but his specialist basically ruled it out. That, if true, suggested he was close to some sort of return. All that was over 2 months ago and yet here we are a month before the start of the new season and it seems he is still some way off any sort of return.
Someone please tell me Iâm a bed-wetting shithouse.
