Liverpool FC - Pre-season

I don’t think anything we’ve seen suggests he is way off?

They might be easing him in, but I imagine that’s pretty normal after the injury he had.

Yeah agreed. Think the club have to be very cautious. Another breakdown of similar severeness is a career ender. I’d say he will play very few minutes alongside Joe this pre season then be brought in slowly over the first few games. Might see him play his first 90 in the first CL games. Then again if we look weak at the back then I’d say he will be sped up to get back.

So, it seems confirmed that the squad will stay in Austria during the whole pre-season period. That’s four whopping weeks of intensive training. It’s a coach’s wet dream, an opportunity which Klopp will never ever get again. Fantastic.

With a bit of luck and a lot of work, he’ll get the chance to mould his squad into a formidable force before the start of the new season. No annoying commercial tours, no excessive traveling, no concessions to anyone or anything. Just hard training, focusing on football, on tactics, on proper rest, and on football again. During four weeks. Wow, he must be delighted.

On the other hand, the players will suffer. Four weeks of concentration camp, instead of the usual two… No seriously, this is brilliant news, and exactly what is needed after the gruelling season last term.

Interesting. Heard they would go to France for a brief camp there too.

Yeah, they let it go because of the changing covid situation and rules. At least, as long as they are in Austria, they can ‘confine’ themselves there, stay in their bubble and then come back to England before the start of the season, without having to go into a potential quarantine.

Will be interesting to see which youngsters are sent back to train with the U23s. Rarely do they all stay for the entire pre-season.

Kaide Gordon isn’t 17 yet but it genuinely would not surprise me to see him make a few appearances this season.
