Line-up:
Wouldn’t that mean if two outfield players get a yellow, Kelleher would be on his own?
I think we’ll go pretty strong - it’s a semi final, and everyone gets 10 days off straight after. It’s also the home leg, so we’d hope to do the majority of our business here rather than at Craven Cottage
Bradley Konate Van Dijk Gomez
Mac Allister
Jones Gravenberch
Elliott Jota Diaz
Looking at the pattern of subs, Nunez and Trent played the whole game and probably shouldn’t start this shouldn’t start this one. I’d like to run Diaz again to see if he can build on his return to form, but maybe Nunez comes on for him later on.
I’m worried about Gomez at full back again. Did the whole game on Sunday, and I think we’re going to have to ask him to go again. He is not hugely resilient, and we’re going to break him if he’s overplayed. I can see a diddle, where between Bradley, Beck, Gomez and Trent the split the match between them.
Would be such a shame if he broke again. Playing really well now he’s had a string of games. He’s gonna score soon also!!
So the refs can just shaft us the old-fashioned way.
Correct. No Vaseline.
I’d play Beck to be honest or Chambers. If VVD is fit then to me it’s right decision.
Jay Spearing in the midfield and 10 players around him. I’m going with a 4-1 victory.
So, is VAR fair or unfair?
It is Coote the clown again
Liverpool v Fulham (20:00)
DAVID COOTE
Timothy Wood and Wade Smith
Fourth Official : Tim Robinson
He’s usually fine on the pitch, probably doesn’t want the crowd and Klopp to chase him out of the ground.
I quite liked the shape of Nunez left, Diaz right and Jota centre. Worth starting this one how we ended the last I think.
lol I love the idea that there’s no var because Leckie and internet still haven’t reached Teesside.
Need to take this very seriously.
Hopefully not a Southampton 16/17 scenario (what an opportunity missed to go on and beat United in the final), when I think we struggled to score a single goal in all 4 games against Claude Puel’s side that season. Lost both semi final legs and drew both league games.
I was interested in our record against Marco Silva, because I do remember a number of very tight games or disappointing performances/results against his sides.
Hopefully we’ll have too much for them over two legs.
There’s a 10-day gap between this game and our next one, this allows us to go full-throttle for this one. Also, if we get a good result in this game it will allow us some rotation in the second-leg.
It’s going under the radar a bit, but we have a hell of an unavailable list. Salah and Endo away on international duty, Matip and Bajcetic out for the season, and awaiting the return of Robertson, Tsimikas, Thiago and Szoboszlai from injury.
Our midfield is now down to four players for three positions - Mac Allister, Jones, Gravenberch and Elliott. Five with Bobby Clark. Our attack is down to four for three - Nunez, Gakpo, Diaz and Jota, and the defensive issues means we have three CBs including Quansah, and two fullbacks, which can be three if Bradley is included.
We’re basically down to 13 senior players and a couple of youngsters. Another injury at this point could be really catastrophic, and I think there are a few lads who are being overplayed.
A few of takeaways from this.

This ten days break can’t come quick enough, especially if we get closer to the return of Dom, Thiago, Robbo and Kostas
-
I expect to see a fair bit of rotation for this game - in the line up and the way Klopp uses his bench, with Beck, Bradley, Clark and maybe Gordon in contention to play some part.

I think there is room to look at the market this window and see if there is a deal that can be done. There is an argument to move forward a deal for Matip’s replacement, considering that Joel has now in all liklihood played his last game for us. I don’t think it hurts to bring in a new midfielder if Thiago is moving on this summer.
Has that been confirmed then? Massive shame
I think pretty much. There is no return date mooted and I think whenever it’s talked about, it’s later rather than sooner. Even if he gets back in training, I think he’ll be managed and reintegrated very slowly.
It’s going under the radar a bit, but we have a hell of an unavailable list.
That’s why I got with my line-up above.
Seriously, as you say, we are one injury away from a catastrophe (ie. Gomez).
