Yeah, it was a shocker when I heard it the other day

20-21 - QF Real Madrid 0-0 (lost tie)
21-22 - last 16 Inter 0-1 (won tie)
21-22 - QF Benfica 3-3 (won tie)
21-22 - SF Vallareal 2-3 (won tie)
22-23 - last 16 Real Madrid 2-5 (lost tie) 23-24 - last 16 (europa) Sparta Prague 6-1 (won tie)
23-24 - QF Atalanta 0-1 (lost tie)
24-25 - PSG 0-1 (lost tie)
2 wins out of the last 10 ties. The results from 21-22 are odd and skew it a bit because in each case we brought good sized leads back home from the first leg and took our foot off the gas late with the tie already won.
I’m going to leave work a bit early to watch the match at home with my lad, who is home from college on Spring Break. I know the score. We are at a low ebb, playing poorly, and it’s hard to see where it turns around without a change in manager.
But I’m still going to watch! Even a troubled Liverpool side has my support.
I’m hoping we can do enough to advance and then it’s into the last eight. At that point if we get there, like everyone else I can’t see us getting past a really good PSG side, but that can wait. There’s no point borrowing tomorrow’s trouble for today.
Today is Liverpool v Galatasaray. We are behind, but advancing is doable. Come on you reds!
Im struggling with the same feelings, simply because on current form, going out tonight is going to be les damage, than being thoroughly shown up by PSG. I dont ever remember having these same feelings even once since 1976. It’s a real shade of the reality we are in.
Unless some miracle occurs and our form suddenly raises into something competitive, then its going to be easier to recover from going out tonight, than it is, being made to look like ghosts by PSG.
I gave a wry smile when Hodgson lost to Steve Kean’s Blackburn who hadn’t won a game in about 2 months that’s probably the lowest I got with us.
I’ve not cared a few times for whatever reason but this is a CL last 16 tie in which we are only a goal behind.
If it turns out like some expect then there are days ahead to criticise it. But it’s still massively important to me. Maybe the outcome is less depressing than when I don’t expect it.
