I suspect this may be more like Atletico 2010 than, I dunno, take your pick of famous Anfield nights. I know this is wrong, I know its incomprehensible and the myself of a year ago would never believe this has become of me but, I’m not looking forward to the game, I’m not bothered about the result and I’m entirely apathetic about outlr chances. There you go.
No doubt I want us to go through, that’s just default regardless what’s ahead. And I actually think we will, although it might be a hard and complicated night. And I’m saying that as someone who doesn’t see us going far, even before the first leg.
Again, I don’t want Szobo at RB and especially behind Frimpong on that right side. And a lot will depend if we pick the right combination in the 3 positions between the lines. Among them, there are no automatic starters as things stand. Salah was one, he’s not anymore.
Szobo might be the only one of them where you just can’t leave him out, whether he plays at RB, AM or RW.
I feel exactly the same. The steady diet of shit sandwiches that we’ve been fed this year has finally killed any hope or expectation that we might have still been able to cling on to. I wouldn’t trust this lot to beat anyone atm.
I’d play Salah tonight despite how poor he’s been. He’ll probably see the CL as a chance to go out with a bang and who knows, he might just have a couple of big nights left in him?
Sadly agreed. We’re bad enough often enough for long enough that there is no real hope of anything clicking now this season. What will a win here mean? Even a really impressive one? Probably not much more than the opportunity to limp into the next round and lose against the first semi decent side we come up against, and with our draw gives us the opportunity to have our pants properly pulled down by PSG. AT least if its a league game you can say the performance doesn’t matter as the only thing that matters now is getting enough points by hook or by crook to qualify for next season’s CL. But in this competition, with no real prospect of winning it, very little prospect of at least salvaging a memorable anfield night on our way to glorious exit, any result here just prolongs the inevitable.
Very few times in my life have I got to this stage with a Liverpool team.
Rather get our arses handed to us by arguably the best side in Europe, than get dumped out by and with all due respect…fucking Galatasaray. That’s just a beating of epic proportions we’ll have to take like grown men when we cross that bridge.
Feelings are not something you get to decide. So I am talking about how I am actually feeling about this tie, not what I want to get out of a CL second leg with the result in the balance.
If it is going horribly wrong tonight, then at least we got to witness Barca humiliated the Saudi mags earlier and they’ll always be Spurs to turn over to for a bit of a laugh.
