That’d explain why he isn’t starting. It doesn’t explain why he can’t get time even when there’s nothing at stake. It sure as hell can’t explain why Slot would rather play an obviously unfit Gakpo instead of a supposedly fit Chiesa.

Chiesa slagged off the spoons beer festival selection.

Our front players were very poor in both legs of the champions league, I would start Darwin but I doubt Slot will, Jota in really poor form since injury, Diaz been poor for weeks, Gakpo not fit.
If Konate is fit I think we win, I don’t want to see Isak running at Endo.

If Konate isn’t fit, I would have Quansah partnering Van Dijk with either of Endo or Jones at RB. Or McConnell at RB if fit.

Hopefully we shake off the disappointment of PSG and regroup and win. If we play anywhere close to the level we played on Tuesday, the first trophy of the season is coming home. Ibou seems to be just cramp and he will start, Quansah did well at rb and will prob start there.

Up font is anyone’s guess. Prob Nunez on the bench to come in at 60 and win it, if needed.

Onwards and upwards. YNWA

This will not be an easy game. We have just had our toughest match of the season, which ended in disappointment.
We have a defence which is weakened by injuries, an exhausted midfield and a misfiring forward line. The last time we played, we won with ease, but the game in Newcastle was tight and, whether we like it or not, they are a good team.
None of this means I don’t think we can win. I’m hoping the disappointment of the Paris tie will galvanise our players to grab this chance of a trophy, and all in all, we are the better team, just look at the league table.
It’s going to be tough, but I really hope we can get Arne his first bit of silverware.

Main points from the presser:

  • Question about next season (contracts and so on). Wants VVD to be here next season.
  • Trent out. RB to be decided. Konate should train but team hasn’t trained yet.
  • Still disappointed by PSG loss. Will try to win this match.
  • No need to motivate players for final. Intensity levels were high. Game was all football and no gamesmanship.
  • Normal that players should be tired after ET. Should be fine for Sunday.
  • Quansah has matured and did well in recent performances. Has qualities to play RB.
  • Nunez disapointed (as well as Jones) with missed penalties, but players do train for them.
  • Chiesa and Harvey not training often with starters due to recovery time of first team. Not ideal but they do have chance to impress coaches.
  • Reaching a final is always a big deal. Can never take them for granted.
  • At this point of season it is impossible to have all players fit. This affects both teams. Quality players available to both managers.

I wonder how many of the countries listed are represented on TAN?

Also, does The Pope have his own TV channel? Talk about perks of the job.

There are a fair few. USA, Canada, Australia, India, Japan, Bangladesh and so on. There are a fair few of us in Germany who are being roundly shafted by the EFL no cutting a broadcasting deal.

Paramount+ for me, lunch time. Newcastle will be well up for it as they haven’t won a trophy in generations. It could be huge for them in terms of kick starting some belief at that club, especially with such wealthy owners. It seems important to halt that and win.

We are tired and have a few injuries piling up, so this won’t be easy, at all. They are a good side, but if we play anything close to the level of the PSG game we should win.

A trophy as a pick me up would be very nice, before the run in.

Arena Sport for us in Croatia.

Prefer watching it in English, but sometimes you cannot choose.

We have an organized group watching of Liverpool fans from Croatia (mostly from Zagreb) in a pub called Bikers Beer Factory this time, the whole place is reserved for us.

What gets on my nerves in last years is that the commentators are much louder than the actual noise from the crowd on TV. And commercials at HT… my ears explode. Don’t know if it’s like that elsewhere.

But in this day and age, it’s impossible not to find an option to follow it.

I remember trying to find the FA Cup '06 final. In the end found out that my mother’s work colleague had DSF and Eurosport.

I loved to record every Liverpool game I could, so I grabbed my VHS recorder under my arm, bought an empty cassette (I bloody needed two for Istanbul, coupled with the whole pre and post match show!), appeared at this woman’s house, who I saw the first time in my life.

Who then saw me in tears when Gerrard scored that worldie to save our lives.

Second most incredible final in the space of a year.

What a club.

Who are Nuenz and Gapko, new signings?

I find that as well. Sky used to offer the choice of German commentary or stadium sound. I always opted for the latter but they replaced it with English commentary a couple of years ago.

Even with that, I find the stadium noise more subdued on the German soundtrack. Unfortunately, I find the English commentators irritating. You can’t win.
