Liverpool v Newcastle United, Carabao Cup Final, Wembley, Sunday 16th March, 16:30

Sorry Wilson, but not only do I want to see my team win, I sure as hell don’t want to see a sportwashing venture win anything.

A nice piece on Newcastle’s main man, someone many would like to see sign for Liverpool this summer:

That’s not a Gordon.

I stand corrected

Btw, since we’re gordoning…

Are they forgetting something?

Maybe they’re too ashamed of being second class champions?

Love the so called super fan who gave up his season ticket over 15 years ago. And Newcastle being ‘equal’ to us in the 74 cup final - what crap. They hadn’t won the league in 50 years and the fa cup in 20. The man’s a fruit cake and can fuck right off.

Banter aside, I’d have loved winning the Championship if I were them. Doubt Shankly or any Liverpool supporter that was alive to witness it was ashamed of winning the Second Division.

If the superfan’s season ticket was one of ours, I hope that ticket did go to a deserving person.

I was at Anfield that day with my Dad…

The backup goalie (at the back) was Jim Furnell. Front right is Jimmy Melia, unless I’m mistaken.

Yeah I was thinking Jimmy Melia because my Dad knew him from outside the game… but was not sure it looked like him enough :man_shrugging:

T. V. Williams, then club chairman (he was the one who appointed Shankly), and Joe Richards, then President of the Football League.

The first one was easy enough to figure out who it could be, but the second one was a pain.

Tell me about it, I was there. After Rush scored everyone was saying we would win it because we never lost when he scored. I’ve never believed that superstitious nonsense since.
