Liverpool v Newcastle United, Carabao Cup Final, Wembley, Sunday 16th March, 16:30

Tell me about it, I was there. After Rush scored everyone was saying we would win it because we never lost when he scored. I’ve never believed that superstitious nonsense since.

Next to Roger is Tommy Leishman. Alan A’Court is peeping over Gerry’s shoulder.
Tommy Lawrence is not on that photo. Jim Furnell is the keeper at the back.

I remember Jimmy Melia used to get a lot of stick from the crowd for some reason. As a kid I couldn’t understand it. The Nunez of his time?

To be fair, doesn’t the actual Anfield-going crowd support Núñez quite a lot?

I saw it somewhere, in case anyone needs extra motivation:

Win this and our next 5 games, and it’ll be the most successful season since 1984.

You’re pushing it there, mate. Only ten hours until kickoff. :joy:

Maybe he’s having a cuppa with @Maria before the game?

That takes more than ten hours.

We won the Double in 86?

So who starts in goal today…? The sentimentalist in me says it should be Kelleher

Was there an agreement that he plays all the League Cup matches? I think Alisson played one because he needed the match practice after injury.

I think I mentioned this further up in the thread, but in one of the press conferences/interviews Arne did, he said that domestic cups are for whoever’s the backup, so at the time that Alissson was injured, Jaroš got the game. But Alisson played that one time because we wanted to get him back into rhythm as soon as possible.

Cool, I wasn’t sure if Arne followed the same approach as Jürgen.

I remembered the game Ali started, I’d totally forgotten that he was coming back from injury and needed the game time.

All that assumes that he’s consistent though. I’m sure the temptation to play Alisson must be huge.

It may well be Kelleher’s last game for us. He deserves the chance to go out on a high.

It’s the year 2070. Joe Gomez and Caoimhín Kelleher are both said to be on their last season playing with Liverpool, with both eyeing transfers for more first-team action.

What about 2019/20? PL, UEFA Super Cup, and CWC. I’d agree the Super Cup is really a glorified exhibition match, but rank the CWC higher.

I was thinking that but if he is leaving should he get it?
