Liverpool v Newcastle United, Carabao Cup Final, Wembley, Sunday 16th March, 16:30

Yeah it just depends on how you rate the League Cup against the Club World Cup…

Hilarious, but we are buying Mamardashvili and no one thinks Alisson is going anywhere, so the chances of Kelleher staying on as number three are less than slight.

The same Mamardashvili who remained at Valencia this season to avoid being second fiddle and sitting on the bench (and who hasn’t exactly been great this season)?

I’m not sure anyone thinks he’s going to be sitting on the bench either.

So who’s going to be our number two? I think Kelleher probably leaves, but is Jaroš staying to play that role? Or are we going to have the same issue where he would want to leave to get game time?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Kelleher stays yet another season. We’ve been hearing talk about him leaving since 2022 at least, if I’m not wrong.

From yesterday. It still really bothers me that they fly instead of taking the train.

I’d make Chiesa walk, purely to get his fitness up.

That’s more likely to break him. Then again, if he’s Catholic he should be used to pilgrimages, he could just see it as doing one from Anfield to Anfield South.

We should play Kelleher in case it goes to penalties. :kissing_heart:

I’d be astonished. Why would he want to stay? He’s in his prime age as a goalie and he’ll want to take the chance to get regular game time.
Ali will remain number one and it will be up to Mamardashvili to make his case. Jaros seems to be good enough for a number three.
I don’t know why it’s even something that needs to be explained.
This is very likely to be Kelleher’s last game for us. He’s been a loyal servant and has done a good job when called on. Of course he suffers in comparison to the world’s best, but he’s as good as many who’ve been first choice over the years.

Is Kelleher supposed to start? Bit unsure about that one. Think you should play your strongest XI in a cup final.

Hopefully another forward turns up today.
Cant be left to Salah every game

Dont think he will.
If we had beaten psg then maybe

I think the plan for Mamadashvili was always for him to go out on loan wasnt it? I thought he was going to be going to Bournemouth but that fell through for some reason?

Not quite the last time the Geordie boys got to come down to London , but you get the idea. (Apparently Covent Garden is mobbed as we speak.)

No matter how old i get, waking up on a cup final morning always brings a spring to my step.

Beautiful weather this morning, dog walked, and all set for it.

Long live the Redeemer

Story by The Mag

It does not matter what has gone in the past, it is the present which counts.

If we consider the past, well it presents some indisputable facts.

The current, but now not, undisputed champions Man City. After many years in the doldrums and third division, found themselves after takeover and unlimited investment in the position they are now.

Similar story with Chelsea.

Arsenal, a team that should have been relegated many years ago but money talked and they retained their place and that persona of always being a top flight club ( it’s all there, read it, modern day bribery).

Tottenham, the proverbial cup winners and without all that ‘bad luck’ would have been champions on many occasions but for ‘injuries’. Poor Tottingham.

Then the mighty Man U (who as far as I can recall and I am now 59 years old) have always bought expensive players and paid out more than any other club and had some success in years gone by (hopefully with the rules they voted in, they will now reap the wind).

So now Liverpool.

Or as I have heard them called and witnessed – Luckypool, LiVARpool (as seen against PSG), a team who again were allowed to flex muscle (spend 70s, 80s 90s) to obtain any British or foreign player at the time they wished and so had many successes (oh sorry, then 30 years of ‘pain’). Prior to their win in the FA Cup (1974) they hadn’t won more major trophies than Newcastle United.

So, the point of this.

Eddie Howe has been hamstrung with injuries to two key defenders and the loss of the best outside left in the country.

However, I believe in a man that learns through experience and understands what needs to be changed and has faith in his team, as do I.

So later today, I am confident in the team I love, that I will see the first domestic trophy being lifted in 70 years and our esteemed manager go on a run of success that will result in the statue of Eddie, that will dwarf Christ the Redeemer.

Keep the faith and long live the Redeemer.

Why would it matter so much what he wants? We’ve already kept him for at least two seasons where he would have preferred to leave for the reasons you have laid out.

To reuse your argument, Mamardashvili is also entering his prime years for a goalkeeper (he’s only 22 months younger than Kelleher), so why would he want to sit on the bench?

Jaroš is just 10 months younger than Mamardashvili, why would he want to sit and remain third-choice?

So that leans into my point, if that’s the plan for Mamardashvili, does that make Jaroš second-choice? What if Jaroš wants to go out for more playing time too?

Is this person auditioning to be Trump’s next PR guy?

Getting restless/excited about this now. Been a while since we’ve been in a final, almost 13 whole months… crazy.

I’ve made my point. You’re just arguing for the sake of it and I can’t be bothered to continue.
