Liverpool vs Ajax | CL Match Day 2 | Tue, 13 Sep, 20:00 | Anfield

Better performance for sure.

Ajax not hitting us on the counter, so we look way more comfortable than we did against Napoli.

Thiago and Matip make us look a 100 times more composed as a team.

Gomez on for Elliott at right back and throw Trent into midfield

yes, loved movement in final third

Very good performance.

Unfortunately when things are going how they are for us this season, of course their 1 attack will lead in a goal.

yep, playing with bite… loving how he and diaz are interchanging sides… jus more fluid

And this is the worry. Without them on the pitch, we fall apart.

The huge assumption there is Trent is asked to stay back which doesn’t look like the case given how forward he’s getting.

I am not saying he can do better, but if he missed runs and gets back to cover, he needs support which isn’t happening. I would have been pissed off if he didn’t even try to get back, but that didn’t happen here. Just look how out of position Fab was.

Even Elliott’s role is confusing because he isn’t creating enough chances neither is putting the defensive shift our earlier players did. None of this is on players alone but the coaching staff and Klopp as well.

Good performance. Anfield sounded like it was observing a moments silence for the whole first half. Could do with a bit of noise

It’s a vast improvement over the last game so that’s encouraging. Plenty of chances to score so I’d hope Ajax’s luck runs out eventually.

Just did a quick check on Twitter. Usual fuckwits saying our minutes silence wasn’t long enough, sincere enough or grovelling enough. Oh get to fuck! Why are you watching the football when you’re meant to be demonstratively grieving!

Far far better half from us just one mistake, Trent again not aware of where his man is, but also Joel should be talking to him, saying that a far better game from Trent.

Need to get Thiago on tha ball more, he is just class his dummy around 34 mins even sent me.

Need to take our chances, but at least we are creating and great to see Mo up for it. Keep it up chaps but remeber to concentrate for the entire 45 mins to come

Much much better today, our pressing seems to be back, quick passing and lots of chances created.

Keep it going boys

Elliott is providing zero cover

Is your comment in relation to the goal?

If so, we were in the defensive phase. Trent wasn’t bombing forward so it has almost nothing to do with ‘getting forward’. Only in the sense that Trent is better at attacking as a FB than defending as a FB but this is news to no-one.

I think tonight we’re playing the best football we’re currently capable of. You can’t ask more of them than that. Lady luck has been heavily on our opponent’s side.

Klopp loves him but he shouldnt be starting every game.

Nope. It was a response to the assertion that Trent is abandoning his defensive responsibilities.

I expect a much better 2nd half from us. I’m only focusing on the positives this match.

Playing well but not in top gear.

this is what made sadio and gini so so important. they both did a brilliant job covering for the fullbacks. Yet again its that speed and physicality that they provided. and you are right, maybe Klopp should adjust with the personnel at his disposal

Oh my word. Aussies have the worst commentators. Foster and Bosnich. Kill me now.

Nice to score first for a change but again, we seem to have all the ball and the majority of chances but with their first decent one they score.

Still feels like we’re playing in third gear. Pace and tempo is better than it has been but still not great.

The goal is woeful again. Elliott and Trent just isn’t working as a unit down that side. Elliott doesn’t track the runner, Trent is ball watching and lets him go past him. Elliott also doesn’t track the guy who eventually scores either despite being the nearest man to him when the ball shifts across to our right. Neither really doing much to help the other there and Matip has to vacate the space they score in to go out there.

Need to lift the tempo and make sure we score the next one.
