First choice midfield back today and weāre still getting bossed.
I was surprised to learn that our back four conceded fewer goals last year (26) than in the title-winning season (33). In the former, we had a purple patch defensively during the middle of the season, but the number of 2-2 draws ā particularly after going 2-0 up ā was not acceptable, whereas in the latter season we conceded about a goal a game up to November before rattling off a ton of clean sheets and then easing up (not saying intentionally) once the title was clinched. Feels like we havenāt been our best defensively for a couple of years, although 20-21 I think we get a bye for. Still, concerning.
