Liverpool vs. West Ham, EFL Cup Quarterfinals, Wednesday December 20, 20:00 GMT

Yeh, Mo’s finished.

Darwin holds a Guinness world record for shots hitting the post or crossbar surely?

I’ll put a sarcasm tag in just for you next time

Nah, he wanted to bounce it off the post for Núñez.

had to happen, Mo is back, woohooo

Feeling for Darwin… Everyone around him scoring

He’ll probably end up unleashing his pent-up frustration on Arsenal…

Nunez needed to get closer there to see how it’s done.

So gomez jones look like prime ronaldinho now

It’s a nice comparison, but even as someone who loved Gini I think it does Jones a disservice. Gini’s manipulation of the ball was 90% about retaining possession - receiving it and making sure it went somewhere the pressing opponent couldn’t get to it. It’s a valuable trait and sort of thing that team mates love, but it rarely was a progressive thing. Jones does it to create better passing options for himself. There is a balance to strike between doing what he does and giving it simple and its one talented young players have to learn on the job because the ones good enough to do it simply don’t have to work very hard at the youth level to create those openings so they get to senior football never having had to develop that balance. It’s largely why players of his ilk tend not to really blossom until they are 23-24 and so with the improvements he’s made the past two seasons, at 22 now I’d say he’s ahead of schedule. He’s just a really talented and effective player and I wish more of our fans appreciated him.
