Liverpool Youth Teams Thread

Like what I’ve seen so far from Danns. He’s got a confidence about him and really gets stuck in. I’d love to see him get a few more minutes from the bench.

Seems like the kids who have been training with the first team have stayed with the first team even after most of our injured players have come back.

I spotted Ngumoha, Danns, Norris.

Obviously, a lot of them are training with the first team and have been for a while but I would like to see Danns regularly involved. I think that there’s a future PL player there, even though it’s impossible to gauge what level he might end up at.

Looks like Marcelo Pitaluga has signed for Fluminense on a permanent deal.

Fun fact is that Fluminense have a 44-year old (will be 45 in September) goalkeeper, Fabio, who is still active and has a contract until the end of 2025.

Anyway it seems like it’s a free transfer and we have a 40% sell on clause.

Not being mean to a young player but he is genuinely the worst goalkeeper I’ve ever seen in our academy system.

Well, that probably accounts for the free transfer. Hopefully, he can carve a career in Brazil.

Have to say he didn’t impress me.

Liverpool vs Sparta Prague tonight in the PL International Cup. Live on LFCtv.

The foreign teams usually take this way more seriously than the English sides do so I expect a jumble of players and a tough game.

U21s - Breakdown by Birth Year

It might help some people to visualize the potential of these players by using their birthyear breakdown. I find it quite useful personally.

2003 - “Decision Year” Last Season as an U21 Player
These players would have to be registered to play for the club in 2025/2026 so this generally will be a key-season in their future.

Misciur
Pinnington Jonas Nallo Norris
Laffey McConnell Pilling
Hill Danns Nyoni

1-0 early, great throughball from McConnell and Danns broke the offside trap before rounding the goalkeeper to score.

Forgot to say that I liked McConnell’s cameo against Accrington.

1-1 - Good cross and a great header from the Prague forward. Pilling didn;t do enough to stop the cross and Jonas seemed to lose sight of the attacker which allowed him to get a free run and header.

Some sloppy play in the last 5 minutes with Nyoni and McConnell both giving the ball away in bad areas. Pinnington just made a brilliant tackle to stop Nyoni’s mistake being punished.

Should have been 2-1 down - Misciur tried to play it out to Laffey but he was closely marked and immediately robbed of it. Prague knocked the ball in the goal but referee flagged for offside with the tackle by the Prague player bouncing to a forward in an offside position.

Liverpool really struggling to deal with the high press by Prague.

Now it’s 2-1 to Prague, corner came in Jonas should have cleared it but looked like he ducked under the ball and it fell to an unmarked player at the back post.

3-1 Prague.

Jonas nudged off the ball and the forward turned and bent a lovely shot into the side of the goal. Very nice goal.

Tom Hill has signed for Harrogate Town on a permanent deal. Really happy for him. For context Hill was a really promising young player when he broke through at U18 level in 2019 but he suffered multiple horrible injuries and he missed the entirety of the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 seasons as well as most of the 2022/2023 campaign. Obviously this derailed his young career but credit to him he came back and showed a lot of mental toughness to regain a spot in the U21 team and even made a first team appearance in pre-season at one point.

He’s been really good, a big leader in the group, for the U21s this year. I’m glad to see he’s managed to get a move to a Football League club, I half expected him to drop out of the FL and have to work his way back. Good luck to him at Harrogate!

He also played against Villa in the Carabao Cup in 2019.
