Liverpool Youth Teams Thread

Is that the former Everton defender?

Seemingly so. You need to question your life choices to have been able to place him as a journeyman player who went through Everton for a few years 3 decades ago

I respect the hustle - went to Madrid got the VIP treatment. Went to Man City and got FA Cup final tickets. Went to Arsenal and got Champions League tickets.

Then turns around and says nah I’m staying at Liverpool :joy:

Not surprised to see he’ll be in the pre-season tour and I’m sure he’ll get first team minutes at some point this season.

He’s probably the reason we won’t pursue Ethan Nwaneri even after we held a long-standing interest in him.

Ah so Shadrach Ekiugbo changed his mind and is staying. That’s good news, another England youth international.

I wonder what changed recently to convince both Abe and Ekiugbo that they’re better served at Liverpool

Not the point, but that is an outstanding name. Ancient Babylonian.

I guess my time of looking smart and hyping up Abe is coming to an end. Just a couple of months away from him being a star of pre-season and the hype train going into overdrive.

Ngumoha is an outstanding, mature, excellent young winger.

Abe is better.

After signing his scholarship and pre-pro deal agreement, Joshua Abe has been assigned No.40 for any first team opportunities. Future is bright! !

You don’t expect Nwaneri to be moved into a central role?

I’m not sure if this is a sly implication that young goalie in question is the one signing for Liverpool?

I had to look up his name on the Net - it’s Zach Trinder. I got the impression that he was the young goalkeeper the guy from Wolves was talking about. Liverpool’s academy are about to sign him according to various reports.

I said it about Josh Abe the other day when it looked like he was going to Man City. It’s the circle of life.

Wolves can complain about a bigger side taking their players, and I do have sympathy on some level, but did Wolves find it morally objectionable when in the last 12 months they’ve gone and taken the best young players at Wycombe, Bristol Rovers and Bromley?

TIA reporting that a PL rival offered 15-year-old Abe 50,000 pounds per week. Is that even legal?

It would kick in at 17 when he can sign pro terms I believe

I imagine we’re going to be paying him a lot too but not that much

Not really I think he’ll play off the right at least in the short term. Could even be a striker in time. He’s class but the cost would be high for someone who isn’t proven.

I could envisage him going to Dortmund for £30m-£40m and we will follow his progression over there.

I hadn’t realized that he’s been around long enough now to already be 19. Obviously still incredibly young for a premier league player, but 15 to 19 is a long time in football development so can theoretically understand the enthusiasm about him being different now than it was 3 years ago

Honestly he didn’t even do anything wrong. Last season he was used regularly by Arteta, made an impact and looked set for a bigger role. Then they go and sign Madueke, force Nwaneri out on loan, Dowman becomes the shiny new toy instead and suddenly he is being touted for sale as Arteta publically requests 6 new first team players.
