Liverpool Youth Teams Thread

Continuing on Oakley Cannonier theme…

Jakub training with the keepers on Liverpool’s training video. Must just train as normal here but play games at Caernarfon. Suppose that’s the reason for a loan to such a level

It would be unusual for clubs at that level to have a full time goalkeeping coach. No idea if Caernarfon have one, mind.

Would they even be a professional club aswell?

Some players will be on the payroll, yes. Expect most of them would just get a small cut of the gate.

What would that be, £20 a week?

It won’t be a lot, certainly. I don’t know what it would be for Caernarfon.

Yes it was in his loan agreement that he would train full time with Liverpool and play for Caernarfon (he probably goes to their training session when they have them ~ twice a week)

Liverpool U23 vs Chelsea U23 - Away

Expecting a tough game for the Reds tonight. First start for the U23s for James Balagizi. Chelsea are always a good side at this level but the bizarreness of U23s football was displayed on their last time out when they were hammered 6-1 at home by Arsenal (Arsenal themselves have also lost 6-1 this season, getting battered by West Ham). As I always say, anyone who starts talking to you about results at youth level has absolutely no idea what they are talking about.

Pitaluga
Bradley Clayton Koumetio Beck
Balagizi Norris Morton
Musialowski Woltman Bearne

Subs: Hughes; Gallacher, Corness, Dixon-Bonner

Gordon not involved. With the first team again?

Probably - on LFCtv they just said he “misses out”.

Also worth noting that Chelsea have brought in some guys who are technically first team players.

26 year old Lewis Baker who has had loan spells at Sheff Wed, MK Dons, Vitesse, Middlesbrough, Leeds, Reading, Dusseldorf and Trabzonspor starts in midfield.

24 year old Charlie Musonda has had loan spells at Betis, Celtic and Vitesse.

Both were once considered top prospects at Stamford Bridge.

Xavier Mbuyamba narrowly missed out on a place on my “One to Watch” list for Chelsea as did centre forward Bryan Fiabema.

Bradley starts strong and nearly scores an incredible goal. He cut infield at pace, nutmegged Mbuyamba and rolled a shot under Teddy Sharman-Lowe but Xavier Simons was able to clear it off the goalline.

1-0 Liverpool - Owen Beck

Both full backs absolutely flying to start this game. Beck goes past one with pace, bundles his way through Sam McClelland and rifles in to the far post.

What a screamer from Beck.

You wait 10 years for a good left back to come along and 3 turn up at once.

Chelsea TV but who cares, if someone wants a YouTube stream.

1-1 Chelsea score - Bryan Fiabema

Looks like Bradley pushed out to quickly too his winger and left too much space behind, easy square ball by the extra man and the Norwegian scores. Clayton could/should have helped out the Northern Irishman.

Chelsea get a corner when it was pretty clearly a goal kick and from the corner Chelsea end up swinging the second ball to the back post and Lewis Baker scores. However the lineman flags it offside.

Pretty turbulent end to a half that Liverpool completely controlled. Once again however, a complete lack of cutting edge with Bearne, Woltman and Musialowski in the attacking areas is keeping this game close.

2-1 Liverpool - Musialowski

The Pole has struggled massively since stepping up to U23 level and been quiet again tonight but finally something worked out for him. Gathering the ball 20 yards out and central, he knocks it on to his left foot and smashes it into the corner with power. Looks relieved to finally have a goal for the U23s.
