Liverpool Youth Teams Thread

Chambers is more of a left back from what I’ve seen.

I think Bajcetic has a future at #6. He’s really impressed so far, I think he’d catch the eye and surprise a lot of people if given a chance in pre-season.

Chambers played most of last season at CB although he came into the U18s as a LB. He’s pretty versatile. Moving up to the U23s might see him go back to LB if Owen Beck goes on loan.

Bajcetic yep he’s a real talent. Played CB, RB and DM so far despite only having about half a season in the U18s. I’d be surprised if he isn’t taken for the pre-season tour.

Seriously I know it’s neither of these teams primary focus but Man City and Chelsea make writing youth season previews really f*cking hard when they just let their best youngsters leave without much of a fight!

Both Levi Colwill, Chelsea, and Romeo Lavia, Man City, we’re going to feature in my ones to watch for their respective clubs but it’s now strongly linked that both of them are going to move to Southampton.

Both very good when I watch them. Colwill is always been a premier league potential centre half. Why Chelsea don’t give them more of a chance. See them looking at Nathan Ake at the minute is comedic. Lavia very good but with Phillips arriving that’s ended Lavias City career before he’s had a proper chance. So much for two managers who have mentioned their brilliant youth system and managers not having faith in youth. Pep has shown faith to his youth squad once and that was when he just left managing them at Barcelona and had a fella called Messi on it.

Are they going to loan him back to City after a season too?

Jay Spearing on returning to Liverpool:

“I feel like a kid at Christmas. It’s surreal to be back but an amazing feeling. This is the place I called home from the age of seven before I moved up to Melwood and then left at the age of 23.”

“I’m a Liverpool fan so to have the liver bird on my chest again is extra special and it’s such an exciting time to be here with the success the club is enjoying. It was always my dream to play for the first team.”

“I managed to achieve that before going on to have a great career. I loved every minute of it. Now it’s time for the next chapter of my life and trying to help these boys achieve their own dreams.”

Another example of how the word “great” has lost all meaning.

not really…he was referencing himself, how hes enjoyed his career…he wasnt comparing himself to the games greats.

I find the current trend with our loans interesting in that we don’t seem to go and find the highest level to play at, instead seemingly looking for places where our players will thrive. Hasn’t worked 100% of the time but can see logic behind them. If Kevin Betsy has managed/coached Balagizi before then you’d have to imagine he knows his talents and thinks he will play often.

Macclesfield FC are the revivial team for Macclesfield Town, who were dissolved in 2020.

They won the North West Counties Premier League in their first season so they’ll be in The Northern Premier League - one step below the National League North.

I imagine a big part of why we are so happy to do these loans are because Pitaluga will spend some days training with Macclesfield but then also back at Kirkby with our first team. Gets a bit of benefit from both environments.

They currently don’t have another goalkeeper at the club so Pitaluga will be first choice pretty easily.

Macclesfield actually have a really interesting squad - Zeki Fryers, Neil Danns (whose son is in our U18s), Mark Duffy, Alex Kiwomya. Some genuinely talented players.

Any reason why Harvey Elliott isn’t with the England U19s?

He’s plays for the U21s

Similar move to Orjinksi. With training with us by playing with them. Macclesfield also signed an u16 keeper that was released by us this season I think

Great tournament for Quansah.
Was solid throughout…

Was just coming to say this. Quansah looks a brilliant prospect. So calm and dominant at the back.

Chambers looks bright as well.

Chambers too…yes.

The Chukwuemeka kid is one to watch; understand he might be moving to Dortmund…

Yeh, Chukwuemeka a class above at this level. Liked the look of the keeper too, Brentford’s Matthew Cox.
