Losing the midriff "wobble" or the TAN diet/exercise thread

Very Origi-esque I’m sure.

More than enough time

Repeat run this evening. Felt better, still not 100% but certainly stronger.

Time down to 26min 46 seconds. Better, less than a minute off my best time.

Tried doing a 2 km run in 8 minute quick run yesterday. Going for speed and not the usual endurance. Did that in about 9 minutes and got utterly winded.

Do that once a week, and you will notice it at your longer distance/slower pace runs

I’d probably struggle with that straight off the start line. I feel I need a little bit to get my “second wind” if that makes sense.

Still a decent time though. If my maths is right that’s 7.25 mins per mile. Pretty quick.

That is excellent advice.
Post Covid performance is effected in different measures in different people, and there probably isn’t enough data or research to measure effect.
Therefore its a futile exercise to compare, as it will only frustrate people.
I run very little, but make constant mistakes of measuring speed whilst not factoring in age, weight, mood or stress levels, all major factors.
Covid is another major factor.

I tend to run on feeling but I do use my Garmin watch to record stuff purely from a fascination perspective. I like to see my own numbers improving and I actively try and avoid comparisons with others. I’ll never go for a run with other people or race for example. It’s for me and me alone.

It’s just been a frustrating period where illness and Covid has knocked me backwards. The times only served to prove what I already knew based on how I’ve felt during exercise. I hate that feeling but I’m heading forward again so all is good.

Still need to get the eating under better control though.

No wonder I couldn’t find it in India anymore :frowning:. Guess I’ll have to take my lunarglides to the stores and look for the shoes with the closest fit to them.

It’s about the same for me. I’d do a small jog for a while and get my muscles loosened up before going on the faster runs.

The fit is probably going to be fairly similar, but the shoe won’t necessarily be. The Reacts are well thought of as a lightweight, durable shoe, but with less stability control than the Lunarglide.

Thats what the consensus seems to be. I will have to go check various brands and models and see which matches me.

With lunarglide it would have been easy to just order it online.

Hate it when companies decide to change a balanced shoe all of a sudden. The lunarglide model series was one that really worked for me.

Hah, you are not alone

It is dead annoying for a shoe company that is supposed to understand this stuff to offer you a replacement on the basis of ‘fly colourways’. My current pair of Hokas look terrible, not sure what they were thinking, but as a shoe they are perfect.

check out brands like Saucony, Asics, Hoka, New Balance. I’ve found Nike to be a terribly over-rated shoe.

NB is available in India as is Asics , but I need to test them before i buy them. Don’t think either have a showroom/retail outlet for me to check. Just checked , There is an Asics showroom in my place. Time to see if there are any NB ones

I have wide feet, I wear Asics and NB joggers and the odd pair of Adi’s for my turf cleats but I really don’t like them.

I took new Asics court shoes to UK when we travelled as I was doing 20k steps a day. loved them, would buy them again.

I have stupidly wide feet. When we get to the US, usually call at the Nike discount store for a couple of pairs of wide fit trainers. As we’ve not been for a few years, I’ve had to source NB ones in the UK. They don’t have anything like the resilience nor longevity of Nike. Sadly.

I’m the same, so is my kid. I’m having to spend $50-70 on a pair of kids shoes so it doesn’t kill his feet.

I stay away from Nike as they’ve always fit narrow on me, with the exception of my ronaldinho 10’s from about 12 years ago that are still going strong. leather for the win.

Rest day today but I will walk 3 miles with Terrier dog.

8+ miles on the mountain bike yesterday and I’m feeling it. Took me roughly 45 minutes which isn’t great but a decent reconnaissance of a circuit non the less. Sadly for me, one of the super fit nutters at work can run that route in around 65-70 minutes I think it was. I hope to be adding 1 outing a week on the bike over the Summer at least as I try to mix things up a bit. I have so much access to good trails that it’s almost rude to ignore them. I’m guilty of doing that for far too long.

Long way to go but I’m slowly dragging my ass out of Covid but I’m also carrying a slight niggle in the hamstring / hip area. Typical me at the moment. Time to start concentrating on getting the weight down again.

Same issue with me.
