I was diagnosed with very low vitamin b12 two years ago which has caused me a lot of problems. One of those problems is i get very fatigued quickly and find it difficult lifting things and my movement is restricted (got constant pins and needles in my feet and thigh area) so using treadmills for example is a no go. so the weight i gained during the pandemic is proving difficult to shift.
What i would really appreciate is any information on relieving constricted/tight muscle pain within the lower rib cage area.
Hope this makes sense!
EDIT: Don’t be afraid to suggest anything. I will conduct research to make sure its not going to have any adverse effects. Never been much of gym/exercise enthusiast!
Both of the Petersons had auto-immune issues - his daughter quite seriously - she underwent a number of major surgeries before the age of 21. She credits the carnivore diet as being a major factor in her eventual recovery and return to a somewhat healthy balance.
Her Dads recent illness was brought about by medication and pre-existing conditions - not by his diet.
I am no great advocate for this diet - there is simply not enough long-term evidence to know its health impact. I suspect it will do little harm in the long term and may even prove to be beneficial but there is just not enough scientific study to know for certain.
Having done it as a personal experiment for a week I did not have any major adverse effects - except for the aforementioned volcanic eruptions.
Yeah, I was aware of his daughters autoimmune problems and how her condition improved when going full carnivore. Same to some degree with Peterson himself but afterwards I’ve no idea. Somehow it doesn’t sound healthy to me.
Personally I’ve gone heavy protein low carb in the distant past and with gym work packed on a bit of muscle but also lost a lot of body fat. But it’s not sustainable. Bodybuilders don’t follow that ethos all year. They won’t ignore carbs during their heavy bulking phase. I also don’t think it’s healthy.
I’m still trying to find my balance and struggling.
Yeah, that’s pretty much why I’ve no idea what happened to him after switching to that diet. I don’t follow him but like the unflushable turd he pops back up from time to time.
Also worth noting that I’ve had a bit of a reaction in my hip following my little jog the other day. So still a long way to go it seems. Another physio appointment on Monday.
I’ll give you a it of background so it may answer any other questions you might have.
I have never been told what the actual number was, was only informed that it was dangerously below the level of 140.
I take one 1mg tablet everyday due to my fear of needles. It is a far slower process. I had a blood test done at the hospital using a white cream that numbs the skin but i’ve not had the balls to go be retested!
I was told by my GP that the neurological damage i’ve suffered will not be fixed. Some of the symptoms go back to the age of about 11 years of age and i am now 40! over the years ive been treated for numerous different health issues and its been a relief to finally find the root cause!
I do feel like the level has risen as the numbness in my upper legs is not to the same degree it was this time last year - but at he same time i have accepted that have limitations and don’t put as much stress on my body. I won’t go to the shop and try to carry 3 bags of shopping for instance!
I am also classed as partially sighted as its caused damage to the nerve behind my eyes - so i can no longer read without the aid of magnification tools and i can’t travel alone to anywhere that i haven’t been before or that requires me to use more than one bus/train etc.
cheers for replying and sorry if any of this information is totally useless in regards the thread <3
No one here can suggest an excercise regiment without knowing your medical history. Also I daresay doctors in India are a bit more aggressive (in treating vitamin deficiencies) than doctors in Europe. A 1mg tablet might or might not make a huge dent on your overall vitamin levels but that’s still secondary.
I have no idea how old you are. But my exp with my mom is that the weight loss and present physical related ailments are a vicious cycle… You can’t reduce weight (or do excercise) without aggravating present physical ailments… it becomes tougher as you cross mid 30s…
Great that some people are interested in the kettlebells. Just make sure you do the exercises right if you’re new to this, instead of just going for too many repetitions or too much weight.
Especially the swing, which is one of the key/basic exercises imo. It’s not hard to learn, but parts of the movement are a bit unintuitive for some people at first and they tend to either try to ‘lift’ the kettlebell forward with their arms or they bend their knees/squat too much. Once you get over the fact that the right way to do it is really basically…eh…for lack of a better word… humping the air with a weight swinging…you’re on the right track…Your arms/shoulders are really more stabilisers.
I’m thinking seriously on your suggestion but my thing is that running as such is a social sport (even if you run alone , there is a semblance of companionship or competition when you find other runners)…
I’ll probably invest in the kettlebells and will find a use for them
I wouldn’t think of it as an exclusive thing, running is great as are other weight exercises for example or other sports - doesn’t have to be one or the other. It’s just effective, not time consuming and you can basically use them everywhere (inside/outside) without needing a lot of space. Great for lockdowns as well.
I am 40 years old. I have always been around the 9 and half to 10 and half stone but i am now around 12 stone and a bit(77kgs approx). The worry is that extra weight will increase with less exercise / mobility - so better to try and curtail it now than wait till it gets worse and find it even harder to lose. This weight gain has been over a 2 year period so whilst its not that i am obese i do wonder where i could be in 10 years time!
Usually here they would be more aggressive with doses via injection - 100,000mg - with several injections in a small time frame (days/weeks). Then monthly injections after that.
It is definitely a vicious cycle! some days i have felt a bit less restricted and decided to move bits of furniture and i will do myself more harm than good! I had an ultrasound last year to check for any anomalies in my abdomen and they didn’t find anything which was a weight off my mind!
Without knowing what height you are. I’m 38 now and weigh around 78kg’s on a 5’9 frame. It’s more on how active you are rather than seeing whether you are obese or not.
I’ve been running - nothing glamorous, just working on couch to 5k at this stage, but the lbs are coming off, along with 5:2 intermittent fasting. My wife bought the kettle balls and I’m just doing a bit of strength stuff with them, arms, shoulders, lunges… not complicated, don’t need to go anywhere either. They are just sitting there in the office next to the TV lounge, so I am reminded of their existence even as I ‘switch off’ for the day, and it’s easy to do some sets.
5’8 i think. On the face of it it’s not a bad weight but the fact is i’m not able to burn fat off properly so it is just making me rather podgy! that is the worry - that it will continue upon the path.
I bought an Air Fryer because of the ease of use and the fact it auto shuts off on the occasions i forget i am cooking food. It reduces the fat content but i’m assuming eating almost everything cooked this way is not really all that healthy and is a cause of the weight gain? along with getting older.
my diet consists of :
Frozen chips
Beef burgers
Fish fingers
Scampi
Chicken Jalfrezi
Pilau Rice
Chicken Burger
Chicken Nuggets
Rump Steak
White Bread
Naan Bread
Milkshake
Volvic Flavoured Water
I eat a few other things too but that is a basic idea of my diet. I am not a fan of dairy products like cheese/butter but i do love sprouts lettuce carrots etc.
I have always eaten similar foods to these but i was always very active - i would walk into town and walk back on a regular occasion which is 4 miles round trip.
i am fully open to constructive criticism and changes to my diet or adding things to my meals that may be healthier.
