won’t work out. Hard targets never will. there are people in different stages of weight loss for one… Someone who’s just started might well lose a lot of water weight etc in the beginning,.
That’s really not the spirit now is it. Do we accept that from our players? It’s hard? It’s difficult? Let’s do it, just make it happen
You need to see the effort it takes … not for the initial water weight to go down… but the time to lose sustained weight after… while still maintaining muscle strength…
And this is from me who’s lost 16 kg of weight in 12 months. People can crash diet all they want but if you dont build up the muscle , you’ll get back to the weight in little to no time once you are out of the dieting regiment.
That said , opening to giving it a shot…
I’ve started running today and also work on exercises to do a hand stand. I’m in.
I’ve been doing a niche sport(roller derby), and I need to get in shape for a tournament in November, if I’m selected.
There seems to be a lot of advantages to taking cold showers. It is no longer just a cure for excessive horniness.
The benefits may include temporarily increasing your metabolism and greater alertness.
Cold water swimming has been shown to have a demonstrable effect on depression. Most people are aware of the cold plunge pool after a sauna.
Michael Mosely has a podcast about the benefits of cold showers.
I have been doing this for months now. I have no evidence to support it, but I somehow feel cleaner and certainly more alert after it.
Give it a go maybe.
Wim Hof.
I’ll do it @Klopptimist. I’m a fat little bastard and need some accountability.
I’ll have a go. Targets and competition work well for me.
Not sure how successful I’ll be though with the hip and also actually reducing that much weight in that little time.
There’s another myth busted, bugger. As revenge, they didn’t invent Velcro either.
We are so screwed in the UK.
Distance in miles unless we measure something.
Drink pints, unless it’s water them it’s litres
Measure our weight in stones or sometimes kilos, seldom pounds.
Weight lifting done in kilos.
Here’s the best one. Paddle boards and surfboards. Length and width listed in feet and inches. Volume, equally important metric, measured in litres.
My old boss’s dad once explained roaches and pole to me, I thought he was kidding. Base 10 guys, so much easier. Thousands of an inch my arse.
My partner just suggested we try this diet involving an uninspiring amount of dry toast:
I said I’d have 4 fried chickens and a coke please
As I don’t eat breakfast, I would skip those.
Treated myself to peanut butter and honey on my toast this morning (the fried chickens were a joke obvs - blues brothers reference) so I’m out for a long bike ride.
Definitely my favourite way of controlling my weight
Excellent podcast here that explains metabolism in a straightforward way. Also delves into exercise and diet.
Well worth a listen
Thats quite close to what I did for 9 months in which I lost 46KG purely through dieting. I probably might not find any motivation to go back to such diets again, right now I am just on maintenance mode…
