Luis DIAZ: 2023/24

I think you’ve left off ‘and thrown down the stairs’ which was also mentioned somewhere on here.

We don’t know Luis’ opinion/feelings, it might be the same as his dad’s (which is more likely) or different.

We’ll see what happens, we’re in a safe spot here with 3 years left on his deal. It’s not like he’s been impressive, so that’s more of a “concern” for us (being 27) and it’s questionable whether he could even attract such a move this summer.

Real certainly don’t need him, it’s questionable whether Barca could afford him. I think he’ll stay and then by the summer of 2025 we’ll know more things: how is Liverpool under the new manager, how is Diaz doing individually being 28 and heading into the last 2 years of his deal when we might all have a decision to make.

Also two seperate posters have suggested that he should be attacked next time he is seen by fans, and even given back to the cartel (although I’m sure that was a joke).

Anyway, end of the day we probably wouldn’t even be talking about this of it wasn’t the fucking international break, which only serves to break our collective brains it seems.

Just a quiet word…

Love watching the guy play, his determination and grit is consistently very high and his output to this side is unrivalled.

Diaz holds the ball too long or tries to dribbles too often. Half the time he either loses the ball or is fouled. And as is the rule of PL, he gets the foul on 10% of the times. He is a great player and he should be smart enough to adapt to the realities.

I think you typo’d, Diaz doesn’t spell Jones.

I think sometimes Diaz tries to take on a team all by himself…good hearted and tries, but pass Luiz someone will always be there to help…but love him to bits…

At least he put his shot on target.

Pity about the one he blasted over at the end.

50% better than some others.

I’m not really bothered about picking at our players, it was a collective fail today.

It wasn’t about today but a general assessment of his game. I think he still doesn’t get it that he won’t get a foul 50% of time he is brought down.

None of our players do.

And 50% is generous, that reaction on Thursday to one of the lesser ones was crap.

Difficult performance to assess today, he’s usually very good at keeping hold of the ball (even at times when he’s guilty of holding onto it too long) but today felt like he gave it away more times than normal especially in the first 15-20mins.

The only real moment in the game I was frustrated with him was when Mo slipped him in down the right, on your stronger foot, just shoot across goal or shoot at goal. Ended up trying to find Nunez, the pass was shocking and narrowed the angle down. Probably went from being an 0.5 xG to 0.05.

Yeah he was just leaning back

His pass to Salah for the chance in the first half wasn’t great either. Put Salah in such a situation that he absolutely had to hit it immediately. His outside pass to Robbo was great. When he got into the box on the right side in the second half, I was also half-expecting a shot, he opted for a pass and even if it’s a tighter angle, that’s no excuse for Nunez’s shit attempt, whatever that was.

He was, which is why he needed to make a better decision on the type of contact he tried to make with it. I side footed attempt would have been far easier to keep down given how much he was stretching, and he was close enough to have been to just redirect it into one of the corners. Trying to take a full blown swing at it and blast it with your instep while stretching like that was always going to balloon it into space.
