Not only that but they didn’t come out well out of the Nico Williams tapin as he gave them a major slap by signing a huge 10 year contract to stay where he is the main man.
That was crazy how that random got that right.
Só it’s effectively a wage play.
Is the text as accurate as Diaz’s photo?
Appreciate people sharing things but there’s a lot of random snippets from various Reddit threads creeping in. Rarely do they have any kind of clear attribution to know who has said the thing posted and thus how big a pinch of salt should be applied.
No offence meant to those doing the sharing but it doesn’t offer a great deal more than me posting a screenshot of something I’ve written on a notes doc on my phone.
I’m now starting to think Luiz wants to leave the club. Based on his behavior over the past few days, I think he’s trying to get the club to let him go. There were pictures of him dancing at an influencer party during Diogo’s funeral, which, of course, didn’t go down well with many. I don’t know if this is all exaggerated or staged, but in any case, combined with the transfer rumors, it probably looks like a departure.
@mods - I totally agree with @rab here. I don’t think BS snippets from reddit (which are saying very definite and unconfirmed/inconsistent things) shoudl be posted like this. Could we ask that reddit not be used as a ‘source’ for transfer rumours?
Whatever his motives were, just the fact that he was dancing and partying during the funeral of one of his supposedly close friends suggests that he is an insensitive idiot.
The fans naturally didn’t take it well and I’m guessing that his teammates and the staff at Kirkby aren’t exactly pleased with him either. He might have crossed the line of no return.
If that really is intentionally done to expedite a move then it’s beyond contempt. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but it still does him no favours.
I don’t think it was done intentionally. We really don’t know when the photo was taken although when it was made public had to be questioned.
Diaz rented his house in Portugal from Jota when he was there. Both of them are clearly very close friends. I’d prefer to give Diaz the benefit of the doubt.
I would like to think that Diaz will be professional, but if management find out that it is true that Diaz has come to agreements with both Bayern and Barcelona… then I think we need to be pragmatic.
Thus if Diaz wants out and we get the right fee and identify the right replacement then by all means, I’m completely ok with it.
Are we really policing how a friend of Jota is allowed to behave half a week or so after the news?
Sounds if I’m honest a wage play.
Lots of people seem to be willing to believe the worst about our players with little evidence.
We all know that the internet is full of sensationalist stories designed to get clicks with little concern for veracity.
What do we actually know? Diaz is looking at signing the last major contract of his career and is thus trying to maximise what he can get. Nothing wrong with that. He’s just had a very good season and been an important part of a title-winning team. There’s a supposition that he’d like a move to Barcelona, which is based on the idea that South American players see a move to Barcelona or Real is the pinnacle of a footballer’s career. Has he ever actually said anything about that? His dad seems to be keen, but that’s all I know.
Even if he wants to go to Barcelona, can they afford him or register him?
I don’t see the logic in a move to Bayern unless they’re offering significantly more than we are. It looks like an attempt to force our hand.
From our perspective, we’d be mad to sell him at this point in time. I’m sure our negotiating team know what they’re doing, and maybe we shouldn’t panic until there’s really something to panic about.

Luis Díaz , the 28-year-old Colombian winger for Liverpool and FC Barcelona 's main target to strengthen their attacking line with Bayern Munich as their arch rivals, spoke to Win Sport Colombia about his future before returning to the English city to rejoin his club. He did so on July 4, although various media outlets have reported on the matter this Monday.
“The future is unknown, we’re talking, I’m comfortable where I am, talking,” he said in a succinct but significant way, without ruling out the possibility of an exit in this summer transfer market.
Luis Díaz , criticized for not attending the funeral of the tragically deceased Diogo Jota in a traffic accident and appearing in some festive images, had kind words for the Portuguese.
“It’s very hard to find out about news like this. He was a key partner in my arrival in Liverpool. He was a great friend and welcomed me into his family; we became great friends and a healthy rivalry,” he revealed, adding, “I just want to wish his wife and children a lot of strength. It hurts so much; it was incredible when I woke up and saw the news; I was really in tears.”
The 27-year-old striker, who is of interest to FC Barcelona, was not present at the English club’s first day of training at Carrington, while they wait to resolve his future.
Barça is aware that Díaz plans to ask Liverpool to leave. The Colombian, open to new offers and interested in joining FC Barcelona, is not subjecting his signing to any release clause in case they cannot register him like Nico Williams did. However, sources in Germany claim that the forward has a verbal agreement with Bayern Munich.
The ‘guajiro’ also recalled the gesture Diogo Jota made toward him when his father, ‘Mane’ Díaz, was kidnapped by the ELN: “I’ll never forget it, I’ll always remember it.”
So he’s leaving but the only actual quote is just something none committal.
Mundo are amongst the worst if I remember rightly and they still have to find a fee. And if two teams are interested that gets harder.
What is £145m adjusted for inflation?
When did we start training at Carrington? And as for not attending the funeral, there were other players who weren’t present. I’ve not heard any criticism of them. People deal with grief in different ways.
Yeah I’m pretty sure they aren’t back til tomorrow as it was pushed back a day. Just sounds like the usual Mundo hatchet job nonsense. With an added quote that says absolutely nothing.
When I first saw reports of Diaz living it up back home I thought fucking hell, what’s he playing at, it’ll be splashed all over the papers and social media and it’ll be open season on him and the club. On reading alternate points of view I ended up agreeing with what was being said, Alisson couldn’t make the funeral and being a deeply religious man I’m sure he wanted to be there. Diaz might have had prior arrangements he had to see to and he might even have thought “one of my best mates has tragically been killed so I’m going out tonight and I’m getting twatted”. Who are any of us to judge his motivations?
All that said I now think it’s best for all parties if he moves on. There is just too much noise surrounding him these days. It’s a shame, I love the lad as a player, he reminds me a lot of Suarez in terms of desire and commitment on the field of play.
Of course with losing Diogo the club might see things different to how they did a week ago. Nunez and possibly Chiesa leaving plus Diaz and Jota might look like too much upheaval for one transfer window.
