Luis Diaz (LW) Barcelona

We have to raise the striker issues eventually as tough as it is post tragedy.

Why would the club even think about selling him now? And dare I say it Darwin as well.

Sorry if this is too soon.

Darwin will be sold because he has not performed; Slot appears not to want him; he also appears keen to leave. No point keeping him. Obviously we will need to bring in a new forward.

No denying the Darwin underperformance but the situation has changed.

There’s no chance anybody will stump up the cash we want for Diaz. Think with Darwin it’s probably gone well past the point of any return, he gave up last season and lost any trust the manager had in him.

If Diaz wants to leave (refuses to sign a new contract) , while we are in a great position in terms of the money we get for him , We should be looking to sell.

We need the player more than we need the money.

Only sensible move is a short, sharp “fuck off” to Barca.

Not necessarily.

Diaz has 2 years left on his deal, and reportedly on a “low wage”. It might be best in terms of value for money for the club to keep him here and let him leave on free for 2 years.

Lets not pretend like him signing a new deal is free or costs us nothing. Signing on fees, weekly wage increase etc.

Diaz has said he’s happy at Liverpool. We need him more than ever.

With Barca, the more noise they make about a player in the media, the less money they have to sign him.

I would argue we already need two now, unless someone who was supposed to go now stays. No idea what the plan is now though, certainly you can’t plan for things like this…

I hope we don’t sell Diaz now. He was one of our three best attacking players last season. He can compete with Gakpo for left wing and back up whoever we sign to replace Darwin for center forward. That’s hard to replace.

I don’t want Diaz to leave. But if he wants to go and the club recieves a suitable fee. So be it.

That’s the status quo for any footballer.

With musiala largely ruled out for the season They will be looking at some players there too.

Not sure Gakpo and Diaz can play in the musiala position.

No. But they might shift the structure in midfield, especially when you have someone like Kane up top. Pretty sure they will still aim for that winger they want. Or both, depending on their possibilities. Olise has also been used as a #10 for France lately, so that’s another option.

Seems pointless given he’s “joining Barca in a few days”.

Not even a week on from the tragedy of Jota and these club mouthpieces are doing clubs dirty work to unsettle the squad.

Tell them all to fuck off.

Doesn’t say what they’ve agreed though - it could be that both Bayern and Diaz agree that Wirtz would have been a good addition to their squad with Musiala being out injured now

I can’t imagine the club wanting to let him go at the moment. We seem to have had a peculiarly large number of left sided players over the last few years. I’d see Gakpo as first choice for that left wing option but Diaz is probably our best dribbler and very effective there. I suspect Nunez will leave and, sadly, we no longer have Jota as an option.

Obviously, we don’t know exactly what Slot has planned tactically, and there may well be other options in the pipeline that we don’t know about.

Diaz and Darwin for 150 million. We sign Ekiteke, Rodrigo/Eze and Guehi. Isak next season
