Luis Diaz (LW) Bayern Munich

That’s about as reliable as a 85 bus during diversion sewage works.

70m is not a massive fee. Players as unproven as Gittens and Maduke have moved for 50m this summer. We’d almost certainly have to spend more money to bring in someone of similar status and readiness, and we’d be required to spent the majority of it even for a highly rated prospect.

It is a deal you do on sporting grounds if you want to move him on and get younger. It is not one you make on business grounds as in enough to justify letting an important player go because the money can be used to fund a needed rebuild.

Looks like it’s an 80m euro bid so just under £70m (£69.3m), haven’t seen any details on the structure in terms of up front/add-ons. Would potentially be our 3rd biggest sale behind Coutinho and Suarez, maybe even 2nd with add-ons.

Pearce doesn’t know much from an in house thing.

Speaking of in the know is Paul Joyce on holiday.

Rodrygo “currently not viewed” as possible replacement. That’s a catch-all phrase. If we don’t go for him, it works. If we do go for him, it still works.

Personally I’d like to see another 10M on top of the latest Bayern offer, as the point is well made that lesser wingers are going for 50 odd million.

To me the situation is a pastoral, man-management sort of one at this point. Slot to make a judgment call on that. If Diaz is happy then fine, the player stays here. He’s a good player as we all know. If Slot determines a move is for the best, and he will reinvest the dough, I can live with that too.

I just don’t like Bayern, and the tiny increments. Make a move or let it lie!

Selling Nunez is the priority atm, and I think Chiesa is likely on his way back to Italy as well. Still, I’d be a bit surprised if Diaz is a Liverpool player at the end of this window. Too much smoke connecting him with Bayern.

The only way that changes is if Bayern pivots to a different target, which they’re likely to do if there is no progress on a deal with Liverpool over the next few days. I don’t think this is a saga that will go on until the end of the window. However, I suspect Liverpool will be open to a sale at a valuation close to 80M

80m pounds perhaps. 80m euros means we are bending too much to the player and bayern and leave ourselves having to find more cash for a replacement/bringing in a project.

Shame, would’ve loved us to get Rodrygo.

Maybe we’ll go for someone like Fofana instead.

Yeah. Would love to see Rodrygo at Liverpool but he’s probably too expensive.

Fofana would be a good choice. We seem to have a slightly easier time picking out left wingers especially when they shoot with their right leg (which is a requirement for most left wingers now , cutting back in and shooting)

Won’t go higher than 80m but it will take them all summer to get there. FFS.

If/when this happens, I reckon Ekitike slides over to the left with Isak through the middle. Ekitike and Gakpo can rotate between left and middle along with Rio when needed. Can see Szobo being one of the main RW backups next season

Nope, we’re doing it just to buy him back. The recruitment bods have finally got the buying buzz!

Ok pay us 80m euros then.

Yeah, it’s a weird negotiating tactic to name your max bid. Obviously we’ll just ask for that.

We won’t go lower than €81m.

Oh and we got Wirtz.
