What did Benteke do or Carroll for the 30m that was spent on them, Benteke scored a consolation overhead and fell over for a penalty at Palace. Caroll had one great game against Man City.
Aspas has gone back to playing in Spain where he has thrived. Iām not saying he would have been a Salah but there was potential there that Rodgers couldnāt bring through, potentially an option off the bench.
Evidently there is some talent in Aspas otherwise he would be playing La Liga 2

I still think that had Sturidge stayed fit then Lambert as a 9 with him and Sterling playing off him could have been very useful. Lambert was a very good footballer who was good at bringing other players into the game. He just needed other players to run for him.
He does solve a few selection conundrums, by not being available.

Seriously. Southampton played some lovely football that season and Lambert played a significant role in it. He wasnt bought as a replacement but as a situational option, and it just turned out that with the rest of our pathetic recruitment and the subsequent disappearance of Sturridge that situation never once presented itself.

@Hope.in.your.heart I think the talent/potential part is undoubted, otherwise we wouldnāt have gone for him. Regarding adaptability, I guess Klopp will use the reminder of this season and the next preseason to slowly bed him in. I donāt expect him to start or even play any significant part during February. Also, the Brazilian contingent will be very useful to help him settle down.
