Major League Baseball

He’s only playing because he’s local.

FSG are too cheap to buy a replacement

Credited his breakout season (at the entirely credible age of 31) to training with Tatis Snr.

Rough year for the Braves profar.

I had a surprisingly pleasant weekend in Cleveland. Nice ballpark, small but cozy, and it’s right downtown, friendly people, friendly prices (I don’t think I paid more than 5$ for a pint). They have two entire buildings in Cleveland. A few Irish accents, but that’s to be expected.

At the park, they have a vegan hot dog with pulled pork. I don’t know who that’s pleasing.

Phils won the series, anyway.

Maybe the Vegan sausage had the same amount of pork as the none vegan sausage so they did away with it :joy:

Best team in baseball (and we’re not even playing well).

A lot can happen between now and October.

I’ll try not to get too excited too soon.

Fightin’s looking fucking badass, though, don’t it?

No idea. I don’t watch baseball.

I appreciate the warning, regardless.

Devers to San Fran.

Poor old Boston.

Spend money to buy a better version. Dont get the reaction you want from the old guy so ship him out for a collection of role players and prospects. Seems like a reasonable out for all parties.

Last game of Mariners v Jays, followed by Mariners v Yankees

Prospects is a stretch.

They got a bunch of random guys.

I’ve been floating on a lot of salty opinions regards the All Star Game over the last couple of weeks.

Philadelphia has been ready to burn down the MLB offices over perceived snubs.

Don’t get me wrong, I do think Zack Wheeler is the obvious Cy Young candidate, as he was last year - and I don’t really understand why Cristopher Sanchez was overlooked for this Misiorowski and his five starts (nothing but love for Milwaukee; the only city in the US where you can get properly fucked up at lunchtime and, not only does nobody care, but they might join you), but it’s wild to me how people get so heated over a mid-season exhibition game.

Imagine if the PL introduced an “all star game” in December. It would be utter carnage. On second thoughts, I like the idea.

I adore this man.

Yeah I’d like our lads to have a week off.

That would be a hard pass from me. There are too many games in a season as it is, we don’t need any more

Baseball could say the same.

Fact of the matter is it’s a nice game to say you played in. Fans really shouldn’t care beyond it determining home field advantage in the World Series beyond that…

The US leagues have found themselves in a weird position that every version of the all star game (except the new version in the NHL) has lost all importance within the game and a large part of its popular appeal, yet they are stuck as part of the calendar because so many contracts are built around all star payment clauses. We’ve got a situation where players go all out to be selected and then dont want to actually play in it.
