I feel uneasy with thee 2. What would stop Sheik Monsour from selling the club to a brother or some other family member? Still keeps control within the A.D.G but by ‘selling’ the club they avoid any serious punishment.
Rather better if they make the punishments so harsh that the owners volentarily sell up, but the new owners get stuck with any potential future punishment which drives the value of the club down, meaning any new owner will not pay what the current owners want.
Sheik Monour has been owner for 18 years. 10 of those years, they have been found guilty of cheating on 114 different charges. We don’t yet know if they have cheated in the last 8 years, but they have defently benefitted in those years from the cheating that went on in the 10 years before - so punishment needs to be full scorched earth for the entire 18 years of their ownership.
Partly true. But do you honestly think the owners would stick around if they were forced to drop down to non-league?
The club would then be left with such a massive debt that it would have no way of paying off it would have no choice but to declare administration and fold.
Why would the PL find them guilty if they didn’t have the appetite to incur the proper sanctions?
They could have let this slide and slide, as many of us suspected.
By finding them guilty, they know the punishment must match the crime, otherwise other clubs will blithely disregard the rules.
If the appeal process is a robust investigation of the guilty verdict, then in my view the verdict will stand. There is no way the PL will find them guilty unless the evidence is cast iron, and the appeal will be redundant.
The prrocess is going to be on a timeline, and maybe City will go to the courts. But why? To delay the inevitable one way or the other?
Would lawyers advise to take their medicine and regroup?
And one arguement I have heard alot since the news broke and people have started to talk about suitable punishments have said that you can’t punish the fans - fuck that for a laugh.
If it were us would Man City fans being urging a softer punishment because our fans don’t deserve it? no, they wouldn’t. They would not give a shit about our fans what so ever, so I don’t give a shit about theirs.
It’s not punishing the fans. Had city not cheated they wouldn’t have had anything to celebrate, which they did since 2009. They’ve done better out of this than they would have.

For just about any other club , apart from Chelsea , I would save a thought for the fans. But this lot , in the short time that they have been succesful , have taken entitlement and nastiness to new extremes. They want their fucking noses rubbing in it.
I’ve come across comments from the “City camp” several times suggesting that measures like points deductions would actually punish the league itself much more—because it would lose a massive amount of quality and cease to be interesting enough for viewers, and so on.
To put it mildly, those people have a very strange perspective on things.
They’ve had the joys of celebrating cups, leagues, wins that they shouldn’t have - but more importantly from this perspective - other fans have had those taken away from them. Taken in a way where retrospectively giving them back to other teams doesn’t even come close to corrective action.
And wouldn’t the proceeds going to compensate other clubs equate to a fine in the hundreds of millions, if not billions? Seems like a punishment of sorts for the owners but doesn’t punish the club.
I really don’t know how far the league can go here but I suspect it’s not as far as this. Also then just letting them carry on on the pitch as if nothing happened feels soft. People talk about it not being the players or the fans fault. But those players are there because of the cheating and plenty have joined knowing this was hanging over the club. And as for the fans, they got to benefit from the cheating so they should feel the impact of the punishment.
It surely has to be a balance of on field and off field punishment that extends beyond money and nominally “removing titles” from them.
When the decisions on sanctions are discussed, I hope those making them bear in mind these cheating cunts have now distorted the whole league for 10% of it’s existence. Not just a year or two, 10 fucking percent.
If you look at only the PL era, Post 90’s, It comes out to be a much bigger ratio. EPL is now in it’s 34th season. These assholes have polluted this with their cheating for atleast 15-16 seasons
