I didn’t really see any outrage, a few people said it was insenstitive or stupid to say and he apologized. I don’t think it’s a reflection of an “extraordinarily low bar in England as to what one can say”.
No one was bothered, really.
For example The Guardian’s football weekly podcast mentioned him turning up looking all scratched and expressed concern for him that he displays stress in this form, but they said nothing about his self-harm comment.
Which is all fair, I suppose. But I find the notion that he should be attacked or criticised for this rather unseemly and below the belt, myself.
But maybe its not a story and I have just seen a few headlines which are not representative.
I see it very differently than you on this one, which is okay. I have lost a college friend to suicide. Having been part of a spousal loss therapy group, I also know plenty of others who are battling mental health and depression. When Pep said what he did, my stomach rolled over. For me, being genuine means understanding human plight. I get Pep simply meant it as a quip (hopefully nothing more), but I don’t see any harm in apologizing. I think that’s more human than inhuman. Whatever their motive, I think it was classy of City to clarify the matter.
You are not the only one, but some matters I categorically do not speak about on this forum. Certain matters, and some pain, is too personal and much too sensitive.
I understand. My point wasn’t to single myself out. I’m sure we’ve all been touched by it. I just wanted to express my gut reaction as being different, which in itself I thought justified City’s clarifying comment.

Anyway. The weather is nice here, where I am in Norway now. Cold but dry. Clear air but a bit of fog up there.
Just got back from work now. I am working in a different region of the country, so located close to Oslo now. I am about to cook a nice dinner now for my old uncle (really my mother’s uncle, but details). Not super sophisticated. Its going to be chicken with rice, a salad and I am going to attempt to make a bretagne sauce from scratch.

I want to. And I think I can. Bur it slightly depends on the old man and if he needs me. I am taking care of him, or trying when I am not at work. My girlfriend is also coming by train tonight. She has been here before and knows the way, but she may ask me to walk down to the train station and meet here. If so, I will.
But I want to. Then again, I am not in my own house and I must prioritise the needs of other people around me

Startling to think, but I would be surprised if either De Bruyne or Gundogan are there next season. Maybe Gundogan, because he is already in his one-year journeyman career stage.
Of the 2026, the only ones you look at think they should be trying to ink them to an extension are Silva and Ederson - and Silva turns 32 in 2026, so only maybe.

Love that. Friend of one of my boys is from Norway and his family are going back there over summer school holidays to go skiing and again in May to attend school for a month(!). I wish we could all be a little more Norwegian!
Regarding the “self harm” reference.
Its stupid. Plain stupid.
I doubt it was said as anything disrespectful to people who struggle with that reality in their lives.
I doubt that many were offended by the comment.
But it was still stupid.
