Probably I can appreciate his skills more now that he’s leaving city.
Tremendous footballer. We had the chance to get both him and Aguero and we fucked up.
Doesn’t change the fact that he’s a ginger so anything else is null and void

It would be up to the Football league to determine this.
As I said previously the PL could bar them from their competition for a number of years if they did then they would be hit hard because the Championship rules would come into effect especially if parachute payments were withheld.

I wonder if the recent Leicester case changes this. The basis of the PL’s punishment of them being overturned was that a portion of the period covered was when they were in the championship and so no governable by the Prem. Presumably that legal ruling would apply in reverse if that sort of penalty from the EFL was challenged (which city surely would).

I think really the only way would be to prevent them access to the PL.
Whether that can or will happen who knows. Be similar to UEFA and their punishment if it hadn’t run out of time.
I don’t think it changes things that much, as if City were barred from the Premier League, then they would naturally have to conform to the Football League regulations, especially if it was for a few years. The Leicester case was different because it was only 2 of the 3 years, so as long as City get barred for 3 or more that would hit them.
Sure they would have to comply with the stricter rules in the championship, but that previous ruling suggests the EFL would not be able to apply to sanctions to them until city had completed an entire multi year reporting period in the EFL

That said, the Championship could also refuse them a licence.
EDIT: If the latter were the case, then it would be the EFL refusing them the licence, which would be… interesting.

He has been out of favour there for 2 seasons. Even after getting back to fitness he has very often been overlooked, even while they are struggling.
Nah, he’s just not for the fitness anymore, and its time for him to be put out of his misery.

They can’t be relegated to league 1. Only the championship by the means of a points deduction. Any premier league punishment would be unenforceable in the lower league as these are run by the football league.
