Manchester City* - 130 charges (and counting...) (Part 2)

It’s complicated due to what it means to be a member of the PL. Wasn’t the loophole that Leicester to get away without punishment was that they were no longer an active member of the PL by the time they tried to punish them and could also not be punished by the EFL for things that happened when they were a member of the PL.

The potential difference is these are not FFP/PSR charges. Not a lawyer, but maybe if there is some sort of good governance requirement to retain membership in the EFL then these sort so causes could see them fall foul of that, but that is essentially a death sentence style punishment and would likely need criminal convictions, I really doubt anyone would have the stones to try that even if they thought the case warranted it.

Rangers was slightly different as the club was wound up by HMRC and a new club was formed so they had no choice but to start from the bottom.

It won’t happen, but in my opinion, they should be disbanded. They can then create a new club. Rangers are a good example of that.

Do they have to create a new club, Scotland need the Old Firm but feel like we could cope without Man City Phoenix FC :joy:

Yup I just feel that the FL won’t act on them for a year. It’s probably playing into Man City’s thinking. The FL are a different entity and I believe the rules Man City have breached are PL rules, if they were FA ones then we would be looking at a Rangers or other scenario.

Assume it could be like those phoenix clubs where the pyramid can’t accommodate.

If it’s points it will act as a relegation if its expulsion then there is no gap to move them down if it takes place mid season.

Can they just ban the operating company from any football activities in the UK?

Again I don’t think the PL rules allow that, they could ban them from the PL for a set period mind.

Broken governance…

No, but if they have been cheating the spending rules then it would be a reasonable suspicion that they have probably been dodging paying taxes as well, so I think HMRC would be very interested in having an excuse to go through their accounts with a fine tooth comb, and if they’ve been screwing over the tax man then they could potentially face a winding up order

New City wonderkid Echeverri, the guy whose breakthrough was said to be why they were willing to let Grealish go, has just been sent to Leverkusen on loan

Remember when everyone was saying that Cherki was going to be looked at as a much better signing than Wirtz when accounting for the fee paid?

Albeit based on a small sample size, but Cherki reminds me of a more talented Neal Maupay, good ability, poor attitude.

Found.

Wolves loss today should put the city result last week into even better context

Ederson supposedly moving to Fenerbache with Donnarumma the target to replace him after Trafford failed to impress in recent games. Manchester United were also looking at Donnarumma but now focusing on Emi Martinez from Villa.

Back to back defeats and Pep is looking to solve it in the usual way - throw money at the problem :euro_banknote:

I heard he wasn’t good with his feet and the whole set up at Man City seems to be around that.

I’d heard similar, good shot stopper but not great on crosses or distribution - seems like a bit of a last minute panic buy in reaction to Trafford not impressing and Ederson wanting out

Like he is a good keeper and shone last season but he’s always appeared to have periods where he doesn’t shine so bright.

Might save the odd penalty however yesterday was a rarity in itself and Milner rarely misses (unless I’m in the ground :see_no_evil_monkey:)
