If they are going to get this 60 point slap on the wrist, I’d rather they get it next season. I want them to grind through an entire season with the knowledge that they’re fucked at the end of it regardless of results.
On the other hand, it’s not great for the legitimacy of the league (fucking lol) for a team that is effectively kicked out still being able to influence the rest of the table.
Exactly. Even to this day there are people that argue Armstrong won those 7 Tours. Cycling did the right thing in removing any winner over that time, and it remains a reminder of the damage he did.
Not directly. The P/L is seperate to the rest of the English pyramid so they would go into the championship.
The catch here is that would likely see Shiek Monsour pull his cash out and walk away calling in all his loans made to the club. This would likely leave them in foul of FL rules so potentially see them drop to League 1. Put this on repeat for all of the Football League and before you know it they are Non League with such a huge amount of debt that they would face administration and with such toxicity towards the Man City name they would likely end up a supporter based ownership model
The football league FFP rules are a lot tougher than the Man City rules.
While City will recoup quite a bit letting their front line team fuck off on loans to other sides , they will still have a massive cost cutting in place too.
I expect City to fully litigate this being the cunts that they are and buy off some of the judges in the process and get out with a token punishment which doesn’t involve relegation
I would be OK with 60 point deduction, if every league title was stripped from them. The 60 point deduction is the punishment, stripping the titles is correcting the record.
No different to what had happened in other sports or other leagues (eg Juventus) where cheating has been uncovered.
The club gets a 2 season penalty, one of which they potentially still win major trophies, but the owners are still free to own a football club without sanction?
