It’s a bit wild seeing us at the top of the list not once but twice, given that for most of my lifetime we’ve been dominated in spending by the likes of United, then Chelsea, then City etc.

Top 10 you’d probably say the jury is out on two and Rice I would say has proven worth it.

Caciedo to me hasn’t done enough. He might be bright but you want a Rice type impact for that money.
Second ten you probably only saying VVD. Maguire has for whatever reasons been there under their worst period in 50 years.
3rd you can easy said Alisson, probably Penandes but then again it’s been a poor era for Man Utd, 4th again a couple. Isak ironically.
It’s pretty bad that the top 20 in the PL and you can say it’s no more than 4 players who seem worth it.

For us only Van Dyke and Alisson can be lauded as success’s given what they have achieved, ekitike did well first season, the other two have quite simply been flops.
The problem is some players can’t be decided on one year. Like Mbuemo has done ok for Man Utd but has he done well enough.
Same goes for Hugo to be honest there just isn’t enough to judge him on especially Isak who barely played the requisite 10 games we joke about on here.

About half of them, I’d say. At a stretch with a few, because some need time and some need just one season to prove it’s a success so far.
Which isn’t too far from the world top 50 list. Last time I checked actually, maybe it changed since.
Anyway I think Rodri and Anderson make a very good partnership together at double-pivot, if that’s the structure Maresca will use. With either Cherki or Foden in front as #10. We’ll see what they do. But in deeper midfield, it was obvious they needed a new key figure.
If anyone asked me in the last decade ‘how often do you think City is going to win the league in the next five years’ my answer would be ‘three or four times’
With Pep gone I’m confident to say ‘I’ll doubt they win more than 3 league titles in the next decade’

Elliot Anderson deal agreed (and announced) by Man City. £116m fee; which just seems the going rate these days for midfielders, noting Fernandes just signed for Spurs for £86m and Spurs have agreed a deal of £100m for Tonali.
I was surprised to hear that Anderson lead the league in number of touches last season. That is being used to point to why he will be able to transition into a possession based team, but I am still not seeing it.
I’m sure he’ll do just fine sitting on the bench earning a fortune next to the other home grown players they sign for massive amounts and then don’t play.
They’ve got to overhaul their midfield.
Bernardo silva gone, rodri not signing a new deal, Kovacic and Reijnders are reportedly not in the mangers plans, kalvin phillips…

Foden, Gonzales, O’Rielly, Grealish, Cherki, and a bunch of kids is all they have (plus Rodri).
I think Anderson plays as a regular next season.
