Sure. But that doesn’t make you a man - it makes you human. That protective urge towards children is something we all share, regardless of gender.
Right, I’ll have another shot at this one.
Masculinity:
- Desire to own a V8
- Desire to own a black leather couch
- Still has a secret wish to have that black panther poster from his 14 year old self’s bedroom wall
- Has “that” picture of the female tennis player in his garage
- Fixes his own cars
- DIY is an easy morning’s work, not 4 hours on youtube, followed by drilling a hole in a pipe with a shit B&Q cordless bought earlier the same day
- Buys proper tools
- Takes just enough care of his appearance so he looks good but not too good
- Has at some point read Max Power and Mens’ Health
- Drinks heavilly but never acts like a c@@t and always gets up with the kids / for work the next day
- Is massively competitive and insists in turning everything into a game he can win, often to the point of causing mild to medium personal injury
- Knows through painful experience that the phrase “think that was good? Hold my beer” is one of the most dangerous things in the world but will never stop saying it
- Attempts to play sport
- Knows he’s world class at it
- Has a man draw in the kitchen full of chargers for Nokia phones, keys for the last house, the wrong meter box key, used tubes of superglue and flat batteries
- Owns a BBQ that would be more at home in a commercial restaurant
- Treats a lady as a gentleman should
- Doesn’t cry when injured or in pain but weeps buckets at anything slightly emotional
- Watches films of his idols, Stalone, Willis, Arnold etc
- Has a burning desire to provide for and protect his family. The most masculine man would be the one who lead the men out hunting. Top dog, alpha male.
- Most importantly, never, ever, ever asks for directions
- Would rather die than be seen within 10ft of a “man bag”
Actually, that’s me
What a list… Proud not to meet this definition of ‘masculinity’.
And what, specifically, do you disagree with?
Tell me it’s the man bag……
Well that’s me fucked.
I can watch a 4hr youtube video on how to boil an egg, only to burn the water
I stopped going out of my way to hold doors open for women.
I’ll do it for anyone if it’s convenient though
Walking into A&E and having the brass neck to give them a story it was on the chair when he sat down… and sticking to it amongst the howls of laughter from the medical staff :0)
As no names were mentioned in the article, could be kind of embarrassing for any forumites we have on here that reside in France…! :0))
We’re all Fada down here. Allez Toulon!
Rare occurance that an object gets stuck there though most of us are so full of shit it wouldn’t stick! (must have been one of the few constipated ones).
Is this a thread that need more oxygen?
or… is this a master stroke of distraction tactics? I’m not sure I’m onboard either way.
Having the strength of mind to lose 336lbs through pure determination and perseverance. He said he wanted to swerve diabetes or an early death. Next comes the surgery/operations over a 2yr period to correct the saggy skin. Be some accomplishment when he finally gets to the end of his journey of transformation me thinks.
JBP is fascinating to listen to. Always sounds like he’s on the brink of a complete mental collapse. Has some brilliant points but then going way too religious for my like of late. His podcasts are very good.
I’d struggle to think of two people i’d be less interested in listening to.
Every listed to either of them? I listen to a lot of left wingers, good to keep your feet in both shit boxes.
There some good right wing thinkers out there, none of whom feature in that video.
I’m somewhat fascinated by how these people can say the most banal shit and still act like they’ve just come up with a brilliant mindblowing new thought.
I struggle with some of his stuff, but when it comes to raising a child it’s little snippets like how do deal with failure. with bullying. Competitiveness where he needs to learn how to push his limits. it’s all different ideas that come into play, what resonates with you and what doesn’t.
My son has been doing martial arts since he was 5. We put him in a class to study the art of learning control, balance, and respect. And most importantly, that it doesn’t just come from me or the Mrs.
He plays sports and it’s important that he learns how to with class and lose with dignity. Not to give up when you are losing, that there’s always a way back. How to deal with his temper and learn the difference between channeling anger and letting it overwhelm you.
don’t let fear or common sense hold you back, reference some
