Perhaps we should all turn off our minds, relax and float downstream?
Kliuvert trying to sound like an ITK… Pfffh
Time is a flat circle. We’ll do this again.
On topic please lads.
Not done yet.
I hope we’re turning our full attention to Kerkez now. He’s just what we need at LB to let Robbo retire gracefully, as he deserves.
I think at age 31 Robbo won’t be thinking about retirement for a good while yet.
It probably won’t happen here, though.
Well, withdraw from front line action then.
I still think Robbo can give us a good shift from time to time. But he cannot be a regular part of our starting XI anymore. The legs have gone.
But Robbo coming in off the bench for a short burst of energy and aggression? That he can do, I think.
Kerkez would be an excellent signing for us, and Robbo would be a quality mentor and deputy.
I’m thinking Robbo has an important season ahead to help bed-in Kerkez. The younger player can learn a lot from the best left back of his generation, not just in terms of how he does his work on the pitch, but also in terms of how he maintains standards - an intangible that you need from leaders at clubs that want to be at the top.
Kerkez has the engine and will start most games, but Robbo should see some action along the way, and then in summer 2026 I expect him to move on.
Tsimikas to be sold this summer, as I doubt we will retain three left backs in the first team squad and he will have more transfer value than Robbo, at this stage.
Hopefully Kerkez is completed very soon. It certainly looks that way.
We have really been dragging our heals the past few hours. Need to move quicker.
Like a lazy doctor.
A lot of disrespect for a top professional in Robbo.
I expect a proper preseason from him, unlike last year.
And that it will take some doing to shift him from a starting spot and ultimately settle into the same scenario as with Diaz and Gakpo.
No disrespect at all, but he’s clearly not the player he was and last season wasn’t his best by a long chalk.
It’s not disrespectful to point out the obvious, that he’s declining and it’s an area which needs strengthening.
We play two games a week for most of the season which, added to international duties, is a gruelling schedule. I can imagine him getting plenty of playing time, even if we sign Kerkez.
At this point , emotions aside , if we get a better deal for Robbo , we might want to keep Tsimikas and sell Robbo.
Robbo’s on a higher package and Tsimikas is quite frankly a better #2 LB.
That said , Robbo’s form should be better if he’s playing less matches.
The last time Robbo was our backup LB was all the way back in the first part of his first season with us, when Moreno performed well before he got injured. In this case, I trust the club’s judgement what will be best to do.
It will be very sad when Robbo leaves the club.
Unfortunately for him , he doesn’t have the technique to reinvent himself as a backup CB. He relied on pace and more importantly his acceleration all the while to get him out of trouble while defending. And he’s slowed down a fair bit in his most important department.
Nice that I’ve made posts worthy enough for Flobs’s exacting standards.
Robbo is the better player even if he’s not the player he once was. You keep the better player, simple as. The difference in what we could sell the two of them for would be next to nothing in the grand scheme of things.
I also don’t know how someone can be a better #2. Unless you’ve got someone kicking up a fuss at not starting every game.
