Milos Kerkez (LB) Bournemouth

nope.

It was this bit that ‘amused’ me.
Not really understanding what it was saying. :man_shrugging:
Sounds like a good old scrap for #2.

Robbo is probably the one to keep,a decent back up who will help Kerkez or whoever to improve any weaknesses they may have.Like others I trust the club to get this right,I don’t want to see Robbo go,seems he is a good influence in the dressing room, but if north of the borders beckons good luck to him.

Celtic brought back Tierney so I don’t see it happening for now, unless that guy can’t stay fit. And even then it’s a question if it would happen and when.

Also let’s not kid ourselves that Kerkez just walks in as first choice on day one. That’s Robbo’s shirt for now and Kerkez will need to win out that battle first.

Maybe some actual competition gives Robbo a bit of a kick up the arse too. He’s barely had proper competition for his spot since he broke into the first team.

The kind of guy Robbo is, I don’t think he needs a kick up the arse. But some signs were visible last season. If he plays less, perhaps he can be better when he does play. The rest we’ll see, impossible even for the coaching staff to predict right now. Pre-season training and friendlies will give a lot of answers. If we are going for Kerkez then it’s at least an open battle.

Robbo needs to retire from international football as everytime he comes back from internationals he is whacked and it takes him a while to recover but he is not allowed time to recover as the Liverpool play schedule is infernal.

I doubt we’re going to spend 40m+ on a back up LB.
Robbo will be better with more rest between games, but Kerkez is a very good player.

I agree that Kerkez is the right player for that position and Robbo will help him get even better his experience will be invaluable and as you said he needs rest between games but getting rid of him is the wrong move. I don’t know what the club have in store for him or Tsimikas.

Having both Robbo and Gio van Bronckhorst should be great for Kerkez.

Would love if Salah does that as well. I seriously hope he signs for 2 more years until 2029 and break Shearers record.

Scotland captain, still one of the best players in their team. He wont retire just yet.

I expect, next season at least, for us to see a bit of rotation there, like we did with Gakpo and Diaz on the left last (until Jota got injured). It should see Robbos form improve with stiffer competition and also less playing time.

While I agree that if we get Kerkez there has to be competition, however Kerkez is the first choice, he will be signed as such. The best player obviously plays. If Robbo is the main left back next year, then we have problems down the left side as the drop off from Robbo has been significant.

He doesn’t come in as first choice. That’s not how it works. Same for Frimpong.

He comes in to win the shirt…

They are 100% signed as first choice, however you are correct, they still need to earn the position. VVD, Alisson, Nunez were signed as first choice, only 2 earned that position.

Fabrizio just said Bournemouth have sealed their deal for Rennes left back Adrient Tuffert.

Edging closer to a lean on Szobozlai

It’s elite sport. No one gets given any assurances of being first choice the day they walk in. You earn the right to start each game, as it should be.

Precisely!

Some players win the shirt immediately, that means for the start of the season, some have to wait a little bit. We had plenty examples of both scenarios.
