Milos Kerkez (LB) Bournemouth

Don’t care about the price. We can offset with the likes of Tyler Morton being sold , Harvey Elliot perhaps too.

He’s great at interceptions. I think those matter more than tackles.

Yeah get a tackle wrong you are likely out of the game and they are closing in goal. Interceptions your mostly on your feet.

Interestingly, the betting on Kerkez’ next club appears to have been suspended - there aren’t any prices on Oddschecker this morning, whereas there were yesterday.

Wonder if there has been some sort of behind-the-scenes progress?

Carra seemed to let it slip that we’re signing him last night, then backtracked. Not sure if he’s ’in the know’

Probably means that he will be still needing support defensively though. Maybe Mac stays deeper providing support. Virgil didnt need to do that to Robbo (except in the last 2 seasons whereas Trent needed the support from the RCB quite a bit.

Kerkez has better recovery pace and speed than Robbo though so he should improve defensively as well given time. He’s still 21, plenty of time for him to do so.

Mylo? Who’s Mylo???

Is this a reliable source? I haven’t heard about them until now.

It’s part of the independent newspaper so can be ok as a source although not sure who it is with that story in the paper. They used to have someone fairly reliable with links to Liverpool but I think they left a while ago (can’t remember the name, might have been Ian Herbert, who is now at the daily mail?)

I don’t think this is new though, City have been linked with Kerkez already this season. That’s one of the reason’s I’ve been quite nervous about assuming we would get him because we can imagine city and Real Madrid willing to push the price up to try to get us to drop out of the race.

Nope…

I’ve seen several different accounts posting this, my feeling is it’s just a wind up.
At least not one reliable source until now.

I think the idea of a bidding war is often a bit overplayed in football. Usually players decide where they want to go, and the clubs then work out a fee.

It was related but got sold off when the Independent went digital in 2016, so it’s a separate entity. Been through a few owners but currently owned by the Daily Mail parent company. The i Paper - Wikipedia

A bit overplayed perhaps but not to be ruled out as a potential threat to us not landing him.

Well he is a full back.

But not a centre-back, hence doesn’t meet Pep’s strict full-back criteria…

As long as there are no Chelsea rumors about offering him an eight-year deal, etc., I’ve decided to ignore the surrounding rumors. Don’t we have good contacts with Bournemouth? Besides, a few days ago, there was talk that Real Madrid was very interested. We haven’t heard anything about that anymore.

They’re obviously upset we priced them out of Wirtz!
