Mixology, or Getting Drunk at Home Alone

Nah. Look how much beer is missing from those pints.

Clearly she took sip from each one as her operating expense.

Is she Bavarian???

Mrs Limie bought me a make your gin kit the other week. It doesnt come with any booze, but does comes with some of the basic gin flavorings - juniper, coriander, cardamom, dried fruit peels. Im going to go and buy some additional stuff this even and give this a whirl.

Anyone ever done this? Any recommended flavor combos?

Never tried a make my own gin, have brewed my own mead though. Will say that all gin should have Juniper as a predominent ingredient and flavour seeing as it is made from Juniper.

Beyond that its down to your preferred flavour profile. Which dried fruit peels does it have? What additional ingredients are you buying? Different fruits will go well with different things. Lime and Coriander is a tried a tested combo across a variety of mediums; never had it in a drink though. Could make for an interesting gin.

It comes with:
Corriander
cubeb peper
pink pepper
green cardamam
hibuscuss
juniper
laurel
lavender
licorice
orange peel

I have some rosemary in the garden I’ll try to use. I’ll buy some limes and cucumber. I had a limited edition berry forward Hendricks the other day that was fantastic so I might get some raspberries and backberries and try some version of that.

I’m thinking one floral/herby version and one berry version might be good

Ardbeg’s “Wee Beastie” is selling for 30.USD. in Philly, because a bunch of sober people (who’ve never stepped foot in a bar) thought it would sell and it didn’t and now they want it off the shelves.

I know it’s a particularly aggressive whiskey, but it tickles me to think of all these liquor stores and bars (or my boss) in the US trying to cash in on the Scotch renaissance;

‘Alright, they’re managing the Johnny Walker Red, and they’re confused by Laphroiag, and they vomit whenever I give them Lagavulin…might as well order 20 cases of Ardbeg!’
