Mo... blah blah blah... talk about it here

We don’t want you in the grave yet mate.

What does open to a move mean if not that he is interested if the money is right for him. He’s not going to be “open to a move” just because he thinks we want to cash in on him.If they come back with something he can’t turn down then i’m sure he’ll broach the subject with his agent,Klopp or LFC heirarchy themselves. If that happens he’ll be gone as anything north of 200mp will have been offered to us and we’ll take that if Mo is happy to go himself.

Lets stop saying the name of JB from WHU in the same breath as Mo.

Its like Candyman.

Reading some of the comments on here, and you wonder how we ever won anything before Mo.

Is he a great player ? Undoubtedly so, would we miss him ? Again same answer …but

Was Mo a great player before he came here ?

No, pure and simple and anyone suggesting he was a great player before he came here is being economical with the truth, we made him reach his true potential and that’s what makes him a great player …the fact that he has not “shut down” talk of Saudi etc does have some logic to it to me , but whatever happens it will be his choice first and foremost.

But if he goes to Saudi, I will not wail about it, I will remember him as a great striker for us which he has been, but once he or any player leaves this club as a player , truth is they mean nothing to me, I know to some that seems odd…because sometimes it feels here that people appreciate the player more than the club, which I can somewhat understand , but when people leave , we get used to it and it’s the club that brings us back.

All I know is, if he goes to Saudi , like Jordan and Fab, Salah kicking a football for whoever will mean nothing to me.

But the prospect of Doak or whoever as a replacement will mean more to me tomorrow watching them play for us, than a former player plying their trade elsewhere.

That’s modern football fans for you. Look how many just follow Messi, Ronaldo or Zlatan, to name but three.

And I’m sure that Salah has got his devotees who would switch their allegiances to Man U if he signed for them tomorrow.

Exactly.

That’s why I don’t think it will happen. Not now. It needs something more forceful, and Mo doesn’t seem the type, especially while it leaves us short and unable to spend the dough to strengthen.

I would be surprised if it didn’t happen before the end of summer 2024.

Yup , was a good sarky comment by pulisic about messi fanboys and MLS …saying that tickets are available at anytime for US matches etc…which was meant to highlight the hypocrisy of the Messi circus.

Big difference by the modern footballers …they look to go abroad etc for the “final big payday” etc and get lauded for being in shit leagues …and yet the greatest Liverpool player ever at the age of 34 scored the winning goal that won us the double years ago …oh and he happened to be player manager …fucking Saudi and any other streams of modern day cash cow cannot buy that kind of loyalty nor magical moment for me .

That has never stopped fans now, has it? He told the rest of the team that he’s staying, not sure why no one’s taking Szoboszlai’s word for that?

Salah legitimately might just be the greatest Liverpool player ever. He’s certainly the best winger in the history of the Premier League, and he’s just always there. Since joining the club in 2017, he’s featured in 89% of all the Premier League minutes. Attackers just don’t do that.

Here’s where I note that I have all kinds of fancy numbers that can describe Salah’s impact. Michael Imburgio’s DAVIES model essentially sums up all of the on-ball actions into one number – expected goals added compared to the average at a player’s role – to give you a sense of what all that goal scoring, passing, dribbling, receiving and defending is worth.

Per the model, which has data back through 2017, Salah has produced four of the five best Premier League seasons and five of the top seven:

** 1. Salah, 2017-18: 11.2 xG added*
** 2. Harry Kane, 17-18: 10.64*
** 3. Salah, 18-19: 10.45*
** 4. Salah, 22-23: 10.39*
** 5. Salah, 21-22: 10.38*
** 6. Erling Haaland, 22-23: 9.39*
** 7. Salah, 19-20: 9.18*

Put another way, by this metric, Salah has been the most productive player in the league in five of his six Premier League seasons. And in the one he wasn’t (20-2021), he was still only second (8.36 xG added) to Kane (8.59). Since joining Liverpool, he’s never had a down year.

But you don’t need complicated value-deriving algorithms to understand how important Salah has been to the lights out version of Liverpool we’ve seen for most of the past half-decade. Put much more simply, by Liverpool fan and writer Andrew Beasley:

Eventually.

Not ruin their season by doing it.

Neither did I but on the tele he was a class player for us

So a £100m +£50m in add-ons bid nearly a week ago that was dismissed out of hand. Since then there’s a load of talk about them coming back with another bid, delegations in the UK and £200m plus offers pending and yet fuck all has transpired.

Our window is closed. Their window closes tomorrow. And people really think this whole thing is a genuine attempt to secure him here and now. They might be rich but they aren’t very clever.

Or they’re just laying the groundwork for a massive bid in January

I remember multiple eye witnesses seeing a delegation of obviously Saudi men at a nice hotel near Formby when H&G were in their last days. Utter bollocks or pure co-incidence.

How obvious? Presumably Arabic clothing but were they waving a flag about or something?

I think I’d go with the utter bollocks take on that.

Typed it several times, seemed to be the least stereotypical phrase I could use. Ah, modern times.

Let’s think about this for a moment. If the Mbappe thing (I know, I know) was ever going to happen, this would be the opportunity. Get 200M+ from Saudi for Salah and get Mbappe in January. PSG can fuck Madrid over for trying to get him on a free. We pay a significant, albeit reduced fee in January and land Mbappe and we are as lethal or more lethal than we were before. A long shot I know, but it certainly opens the door….and there’s talk the player is open to the move.

The wages he would demand will be astronomical. Then there is the knock on effect of every contact renewal taking Mbappe’s wages into consideration. Ultimately, he will cost us far more than anything the Saudis would give for Salah. For better or worse, I don’t see FSG willing to go down that route. Sorry @cynicaloldgit .

That’s quite optimistic and does not factor the potential domino effect on team morale from selling your best player at a time you cannot replace him…

They’re not a bunch of crybabies who are going to fall apart if Salah leaves. Give our management and players a bit more credit than that.
