How can this club operate under FFP
no but theres a difference isnt there.
flying a player on his own in a private jet to an awards ceremony is a bit OTT dont you think.
its not Faux outrageā¦
its real dissappointmentā¦
while you are at it though, its probably the next step, as you say, its needless to send club delegates on piss up jaunts to glorified bingo partiesā¦
what Klopp does on his annual leave is his businessā¦i suppose if Mo knocked off at 3:00pm, caught a private jet to an awards ceremony and flew back same night you could say the same, but then youd purposefully be trying to not understand the pointā¦i
Really? So the Club flies him and itās wrong but if Klopp takes a private jet itās his own business. Thatās horseshit, quite frankly and not quite sure how Iād not be understanding the point, whatever that may be, on purpose. Itās just a contrarian point of view just to be contrary and an example of the ridiculous cancel culture that floats about just waiting to go āAha!ā.
āHow did Mo Salah get to the Awards night??ā
By being the best player around, by a country mile. Long live the King.
Did he take a private jet? If so thatās wrong too.
That stemmed from stuff earlier in his career, when thomas was still the top dog.
Correct me if Iām wrong, but didnāt the issues between Jordan and Thomas stem from the physical game played by Rodman, Laimbeer and Salley and people thought Thomas needed to be more vocal about them reigning it in?
If anyone canāt see the difference between flying down to London from Liverpool for a couple of hours on a private jet and flying abroad for a holiday, they need to think long and hard.
The award ceremony should be held after the season. Problem solved.
Yeah, itās interesting as PSG looked to me the only viable exit for him, but that required Mbappe leaving. I just cannot see another club being viable, having the need and having the money.
What we donāt know isā¦how many other persons were on the planeā¦5/6/7ā¦saves on petrol/dieselā¦and at todays rate
ā¦itās probably cheaper to flyā¦across/ up n down Englandā¦
Itās looking more and more likely that heāll see out his contract and leave on a free next summer.
Heās going to be demanding 400k + a week though, so suitors will still be limited.
Why not Real Madrid?
And smoking. He saw the light, quit now.
Well this topic took quite a turn.
its not cancel culture. no one is cancelling Mo, or the club, or anythingā¦COG just threw out the point that you knowā¦maybe, just maybe, its not a great idea to charter jets for individuals whilst the planet burns.
i really think your over thinking it here.
no one is suggesting we pull out of european competition either, before you go there, thats part of the business the club is inā¦
the club just flew (appparently, im assuming here, but someone did) Mo Salah to an awards night on a private jet, then boasted about it. its a proven fact this is exactly the type of thing that needs to stop immediately for us to save this planet.
its wrong and should not happen. im sorry there are millions of other wrongs in the world that are worse examples, but that does not change this case.
whether Klopp burns Orphans in jet fuel for his summer holidays or eats organic Kale grown from his own garden and mediatates for 6 weeks is not the pointā¦we can deal with that when the subject arisesā¦
whether i spend my spare hours drag racing V8 muscle cars or replanting indigenous plant species is not the pointā¦
anywaysā¦weāve done this to death nowā¦you dont think theres an issue with it, a few of us doā¦
Itās part of the wealth that goes with everything at the top level. Weāve seen pics of Mo driving a Bentley. Iām sure he lives in a house that is bigger than he needs too. We can do this for almost all Premier League players and indeed the entire professional game at the highest level. When you get the microscope out it all gets a bit absurd.
Personally, I think Mo showed remarkable restraint going on a light jet!
should have taken Bezos space dick you reckon?
its a fair pointā¦
I just had a cursory glance, and business aviation accounts for 0.04% of global emissions, while eating meat accounts for about 20% of global emissions. But when we see Allison tucking into a Brazil gaucho style meat fest, we cheer him on!
Anyway, I wonāt say more as I respect the dearly held environmental views people have. Thereās a great climate thread in here that is very informative.
My original point is as that the club should not be glorifying flying, given that they want to achieve net zero.
The Reds recently topped the Sport Positive Environmental Sustainability League, and now want to achieve absolute zero carbon emissions
It is not Mo Salah who is the problem here (although I would prefer it if he, like everybody else, didnāt fly at all) but the clubās glamorising something that is so obviously bad for the future of life on this planet.
As @RedOverTheWater points out, thereās a separate thread for climate change, so letās get back to talking about how good Mo is in this one.
